That's how it usually works - but I think this means you are just speculating based on how synths are usually updated - and you know it. :scared:

Riddle me this - when dune 3 and dune 2 came out - why was Dune 1 still being sold in the shop? Even after Dune 3 came out - Dune 1 was still being sold!

However, when Dune 3 came out, Dune 2 was removed from the shop, but not dune 1.

Why? Surely you don't want to say Dune 3 replaces this gem :help:
No.

Dune 2 did that.
How? Justify yourself. Maybe you guys just don't know :help: Proof that you know what you are talking about
Which part didn't you understand?
If you are just speculating or if you possess real knowledge and awareness on the topic that you can use to back up your truth claims - perhaps even from the developer himself?
I just noticed you have Dune 3 in your signature, so what are you talking about?
Yes, I spent time sound designing in both of them - take it from me - they are different synths and not 1 to 1 correspondance - even though they share the same name.

Get your hands and dune 1 and start messiing with the filters, the distortions, the fx, and the WAY fm is implemented and you will know.

Of course they are different, but you can easily copy D1 patches to D3 . You just need to use the legacy elements provided, and know your craft.

Failing that, just use D1. I have all 3 versions installed, they work fine here, but I only ever load up D3.

Incorrect. D1 was not being sold by SA after D3 was released in 2018.

Yes, they are different synths - but they do not have a 1 to 1 correspondance, aka you cannot easily copy D1 patches to D3 patches - atleast not all of them and most importantly - when tweaking the filters, especially the LP/BP/HP combo filters, will not have any where near the same effect and sound - ZERO CORRESPONDANCE in this area. Half the synth does not carry over 1 to 1 in Dune 2.

The legacy filters and effects, just use those in Dune 2, is laughable as a solution, with all respect, sounds like you are just assuming without first hand knowledge and experience with them. There are 2 Dune Legacy Filter but half a dozen or more unique filters in Dune 1 that aren't carried over... The math simply doesn't work here.

Yes, you can create similar patches, but not all of them, so don't bother showing me some generic analogy bass patch sounding identical in version 1 in version 3 - the same patch can be made in spire or sylenth. Try to recreate the flange bass patch in Dune 1 in Dune 2 or 3. Won't get close.

You didn't answer my question - why was Dune 1 still sold for even 5 years after Dune 3 released.

You can know your craft all you want - but you have to know your synth first before implementing your craft.

Sigh... please don't tell me you came to this conclusion by the fact Dune 1 is not being sold currently on site... Are you just guessing or are you 100% sure - maybe you even spoke with Richard, the developer on this particular subject?

To my best recollection - it was around 2-3 years ago when Dune 1 was no longer possible to purchase from there site. I remember talking to Richard about it and he was kind enough to just give me a nfr version of it due to my concerns - that it'd be a shame to discontinue Dune 1 because Dune 3 does not 1 to 1 replace it.

Rubber Duck was only standalone though. And by 2025 measure it doesn't sound that good.
Yeah, nothing I'd like to resurrect. But at the time it was pretty damn hot.

Use that then, no need for a resurrection. Like I said, all 3 versions work fine here.

Yeah, guess that makes sense. Still not giving you a pass on your faulty logic though. Hopefully you learned D3 has not replaced D1 by a long shot if you look at the features and care to find the differences.

Still would like it to be upgradable though - so in that since - yeah, still a candidate
