Hiy there you SampleTank users.

I have got a ST 4 license but I am not able to download all the gigabites of sounds.
May be it is possible to install the sounds from Sample'Tank 3 and use them in ST4?
Often there are people just selling their installing DVDs from ST3, thats the reason I am asking.

Yes, you can easily open ST3 sounds in ST4.

I don't know what you're seeing in these sales, but you will want to get the license completely transferred over to you, or you won't be able to get any updates. (There have been updates to the ST3 libraries over the years.) You also won't qualify for any upgrade discounts from IKMM if you don't actually own the license.

As far as storing the ST3/ST4 libraries, you could store them on a 256 GB or 512 GB (or even 128 GB) USB drive, if you wanted. If your computer has USB3, that would actually be faster than accessing the libraries from a traditional hard drive. Right now, USB drives aren't terribly expensive, with 256 GB drives going for as little as $14 (USD) and 512 GB USB 3.2 drives going for $29.99.

Thank you.

Well, as I said, I already own a ST 4 license, just do not have the capacety to dl all this gigabitea of data. It would literally take me a week to do this where I am living.
So every once in a while somebody is selling just the sound installation CDs or DVDs for ST 3 Sounds, which is already a huge amount to play with.
May be there is somebody who would like to send me all the soundfiles on an USB stick, I would pay the money for the sending and the stick of course.

Well, even for just SampleTank 3, you'll need to make sure the license for the entire package is in your name. Otherwise, you'll be able to install the sounds, but ST3 won't be able to load them.

For what it's worth, ST4's library isn't 100% new sounds; at least 40% of it is from ST3.

And yes, depending upon where you live, it might be cost-effective to have someone else download ST4's sounds and ship them to you.
