There's always someone on music software forums who suggests we avoid software so we can relive their old days. So tiring.

No worries. I was messing about with the Madonna Ray Of Light stems from a recent competition. The main vocal was coverd in old timer trippy delays. I found lalals made an astonishing job of removing the echoes. The resluting stem was mp3 as far as I remember but it was free to convert and I was happy with the result. No other online service that I tried could beat it. I can't remember how many free minutes you get with a new account but it might be worth trying on your source material, even if it's not a vocal.
