Thank you! That would be a good description of Brother James. At times he was outgoing and flamboyant. Other times he was quiet and thoughtful. When he spoke, people listened. He was always dressed to the nines. We miss him. Have a great day.

Sounds like quite a character.
The "man of faith" is an important thing you highlight.

It's amazing what you can do on the iPad. Beautiful bass and superb guitar playing.
And then a nice saxophone. Great work!

Thank you! I can’t take full credit, though. The guitar parts are from some loops that I cut up, transposed and time stretched. The bass is an app called iBassist. I generated some audio and chopped that up, too. The sax comes from an app called Session Band. Those are actual live players! The app provides hundreds of short phrases that I can mix and match. It’s time consuming but I’m not in a hurry. Thanks for listening!enroe wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 4:28 pm It's amazing what you can do on the iPad. Beautiful bass and superb guitar playing.

He was a well respected man in our church, with a great sense of humor. He would make a funny comment, but it usually always had a deeper meaning. Sometimes I didn’t “get it” until much later. He was able to “dance” without moving his feet, and he always had some great boots. He lived a good, long life and had many, many friends. I hope I’m so lucky.Bansaw wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 12:36 pm Sounds like quite a character.

I’m amazed that this is ALL DIGITAL!! I agree that the creating of this Homage to your Brother had to be time consuming, but since I’m guessing that since it was a labor of love, time had no meaning, as this was part of the way for you to process, grieve, get thru his passing & beyond whole!!
Incidentally, this is the first of the contributions on this page that I listened to from beginning to end. Not just because… well to be honest? I’m a huge Bootsy Collin’s fan? Those opening bass riffs…had a Bootsy flair to them!!! That’s what drew me to the song. As fair as summing it up someone else said a similar thing so I will add on & say An AMAZING wrangle of styles….Blended by Faith!!
(That’s not a bad way to Honor your late Brother….
If you ever hang out a shingle (start a business) like a studio? You could call it “Mixes by: (insert your name)
Blended by Faith” Just a thought. I am truly sorry for your loss. I’ve been estranged from my sister (who was my best friend since growing up) for close to 20 years. I felt I lost her once… & actually I’ll never know for sure when she will actually pass? The loss of your Brother gave you the internal muse to CREATE such a wonderful song!! Can’t wait for more!!

Thank you so much! Brother James was not a blood relative. He was a member of our church. We always refer to each other as brother and sister when speaking. I like that. He was a good guy.Speedwalker501 wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 6:10 pm I’m amazed that this is ALL DIGITAL!! I really enjoy making “music” on this iPad. I can get wrapped up in it for hours. It allows me to escape from my troubles, even if only for a little while. I played piano and bass in various bands for most of my life. In 2004 both of our sons were killed. I gave up everything and went dark for 16 years. In 2020 my wife told me about people making music with these iPads, and I bought one. I would much prefer to play in a band, but my mates have all retired, moved away, or passed away. This new hobby is pretty good, though. I get to write all of the music and play all the instruments. Instead of playing for an audience, I post my stuff on these forums and get to interact with people all over the world. That’s pretty cool!
I love when people listen and comment. I was feeling a bit down this morning and your post made my day! It means a lot to me. I will be posting a new track soon. It’s sort of a Halloween themed piece called “Don’t Look Under The Bed”. It’s supposed to be scary sounding. I hope you can listen and tell me your thoughts.
Have a wonderful day!

These iPads are a lot of fun. I still can't believe how much I can get for so little. To do this in a conventional studio 20 years ago would cost thousands. Now I can just sit out on my patio and have fun for little to no cost. Thanks for listening and commenting!
