The old Roland Cloud experience. I was about to buy it, now there's no shot. I sometimes go offline in the countryside for this long.

It's a bit strange in terms of designing sounds for it, but it can sound absolutely gorgeous, and kind of nostalgic. The spectral reverb is fantastic and it begs for unison detune and maybe a little bit of stiffness to bring in inharmonic bell-like sounds. Like a DX7 without the FM.
There are a few bugs at the moment, particularly with MPE -- it can't be enabled at all in Windows CLAP, making me think it wasn't supported at all until I looked at the manual, and the pitch range is extreme in VST3 (just rocking your finger back and forth on a single pad on the Linnstrument can take it out of audio frequency range). Hopefully that'll be fixed pretty quickly; it's definitely the sort of instrument where I'd want to use just intonation or other interesting tunings. (It does support MTS-ESP, but I use Entonal Studio which relies on MPE for microtuning.)

indeed. This looks like a very interesting synth with a nice sound, but that makes it a complete nono!tumface wrote: Sun Oct 26, 2025 3:04 pm I was about to buy it, now there's no shot.

Remember when you used to buy software that came on a CD? It worked in the countryside!... things are getting worse... but hey! Look! We're moving away from Steinberg by making a CLAP version!

Entonal Studio can be a MTS-ESP master....foosnark wrote: Sun Oct 26, 2025 4:31 pm (It does support MTS-ESP, but I use Entonal Studio which relies on MPE for microtuning.)
i received the email, this weekend, i had forgotten about, that i signed up...foosnark wrote: Sun Oct 26, 2025 4:31 pm It's a bit strange in terms of designing sounds for it, but it can sound absolutely gorgeous, and kind of nostalgic. i didn't test it yet. but it seems quite interesting...
it has no FM? harmonics modulating, at audio rate, harmonics....?
but i believe it is pretty capable within its own framework. what i have heard from it.
i hope full MPE will be implemented.foosnark wrote: Sun Oct 26, 2025 4:31 pm There are a few bugs at the moment, particularly with MPE (...)
must demo it, i have other solutions, additive, that quite compete with it, but that is does not mean that this plugin will add a lot to what is possible, and of course the own workflow, and implementations, have a big impact on the sounds you get.
but for sure; a great plugin.

I wouldn't even consider buying this if it was "regular" c/r activation. Small company and c/r is a no-go, imo.tumface wrote: Sun Oct 26, 2025 3:04 pm The old Roland Cloud experience. I was about to buy it, now there's no shot. I sometimes go offline in the countryside for this long.

Thanks to those who checked it out! Looking forward to hearing what people make with it.
Too funny: re offline auth. A friend asked me yesterday if I wanted them to post about sine machine on KVR and I said this verbatim:
The auth is handled by https://moonbase.sh, who are an amazing company, good people, great to work with. They are handling auth (and taxes) for more and more indie plugin companies. They really help reduce the amount of work needed for indie devs to put something out there, by dealing with payments, taxes, licensing, etc... The way I have licensing configured, the audio is never impacted or messed with, the UI just asks to validate the license after a few weeks. They do make offline auth easy, but I made the mistake of using my own custom UI for everything, so I'll have to root around and cook up another couple screens, test everything, etc.
Anyway, I'll post back here when offline auth is in place. But first maybe I'll take one of those 3+ week countryside vacations with no internet — that would hit the spot right now!

So, before the spells are cast, let me plead my case to the council! Sine Machine is "early access" which means there's a number of missing things. MPE, offline auth and a spotty manual are among them. Even that video on the homepage is like 3 years old. All of that will take me a bit to wrap up. I wanted to let people start playing with it at a reduced price before more months pass by and it's suddenly 2026. I've been building this for too many years, I had to get it out and see evidence that people will actually enjoy it, etc!sine machine doesn't have offline auth right now (or aax), so I expect they will treat me as evil, cast spells against me and my kin, etc
