Hi, this is my first posting to KVR. I wish everyone well and hope you all have a happy and prosperous New Year!

I recently took part in the Group Buy of the Kjaerhaus Gold Series plugins (the EQ, Compressor and Modulator). They are superb plugins, so analogue and musical. I can use them in both Cubase VST 32 and Cubase SX v3.0 readily but I would like very much to be able to access them through Soundforge.

Can anyone help me to understand how to do this? do I need to use some sort of Wrapper or something as they do not show up in the Direct X list.

I think the EQ and compressor are every bit as good as the likes of Waves plugins and I would love to use them in audio editing.

Many thanks in advance of any help.

ps. I tried Kjaerhaus and they just said they could not possiby check every host with their plugins, perfectly true, but not very helpful!

pps. Apologies if I have posted the wrong forum!

Soundforge doesn't yet support vst. Acid 5.0 does so SF may not be far behind. Time will tell. Anyway, you will need a wrapper if you want to try it in SF.

Hi there and welcome to KVR :)

The Kjaerhus plugs are indeed very nice and I too bought the bundle. The freeware Classic Plugs are also very good indeed (and should surely be shareware at least - a great bundle 8) )

Kjaerhus plugs are VST only, so until Soundforge updates to include VST (which I am sure it will later this year, following on from Acid) you will need to use a wrapper/VST adapter. I've heard that the Spinaudio one is good, but no doubt others can advise.

I use Adobe Audition instead of soundforge personally, but I had some GUI display problems with the Kjaerhus plugs which apparently had to do with using a wrapper (Audition does this internally).

Torben, the developer, has now fixed this. When I first brought it to his attention though he was very helpful indeed, so I'm surprised you didn't get a helpful response - perhaps he's having a bad day!

Of course he can't test the plugs in every host, especially when a VST wrapper is involved, but feedback such as yours is definitely listened to and acted on by Kjaerhus.

All the best

I too bought the bundle in a recent group buy. It works perfectly in Soundforge via Cakewalk VST wrapper (which I believe is best)

I use SF 6.0. I have the Cakewalk wrapper, it works well enough.

I've changed my approach to wrapping recently, though, to reduce the inconvenience. I now only wrap energyXT, and then use all my VSTs in there. The Cakewalk wrapper works well, but it takes ages to scan through your plugin directory if you have a lot of plugins around. Gets to be a pain if you update plugins a lot. EXT also has really fast support from its developer.

As well, some plugins don't work in the wrapper, but everything I've use in eXT has worked. One thing about the wrapper that's a pain is that it doesn't remember last plugin state, at least not with the Kjaerhus plugins. EXT resolves this issue too. The wrapper also doesn't remember your VST directory tree, so if you have things sorted in folders, you'll have to do them over again in Sound Forge.

Something to consider.

Cheers,
Steve

Thank you all for your advice.

I have now tried the Spin Audio Lite Wrapper and want to look at energyXT (which I'm gonna do right away). As pointed out, it is likely that SForge will follow Acid in supporting VST fairly soon and I look forward to that development (any ideas when anybody??)

Thanks again and keep banging those choons out!:')
