I'm trying not to spend money on upgrading, so this is as negative as I could make it.
SGX-2 Unable to try the demo. Virus Threats found.
PS-3300. If someone told me this was a Cherry Audio synth, I'd believe them.
Trinity. Some nice sounds but I think I have them covered a hundred times over.

That looks good but as with the last update, the other 2 are rather lacklustre - I too was hoping for a Z1

For me, Trinity was the #1 thing I was hoping for. Z1 would be cool, too, though.aMUSEd wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 2:05 pm That looks good but as with the last update, the other 2 are rather lacklustre - I too was hoping for a Z1

Interesting discovery: The PS-3300 only seems to support 12 note octave temperaments and tunings. I guess that's due to the polyphonic architecture of the real hardware. So, I can choose Pelog in both the ARP 2600 and PS-3300, since Pelog can be aligned with an octave, but I can only choose Carlos Alpha or Beta in ARP 2600, since it's a scale without 12 note octaves, and can't work on the hardware. That's kind of a cool detail, actually. I remember the Alex Ball video (I think) where one of the creators of the PS-3300 talked about making the temperament adjustment an important part of the synth.

The Trinity is the only thing that is of interest to me in the new collection.D-Fusion wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 12:07 pm The PS-3300 is the only thing that is of interest to me in the new collection
I feel like i have the trinity sounds covered 10 times over already with the Triton, M1, Wavestate and Wavestation.
I know I have the PS-3300 sounds covered 10 times over already in the dozens of other VA capable synths I own.
I've found some sounds I like in the Trinity demo but could I replicate them with my other synths like the Triton? Sure, close enough but I do love these sample based synths so will probably purchase the upgrade at some point.
Did the Trinity not have a built in Arpeggiator? I'm not finding it on the plugin but then I'm blind as a bat however there is no such category in the browser.
The PS3300 seems to be really heavy on the CPU as some patches will choke this test system out but it is an old computer so that's not unexpected.
I already have more pianos than I need so might not even install the SGX-2. Would be nice if there was a Trinity only upgrade but at $99 I really can't complain.

Interesting, what excites about the Triton? I must admit I had dismissed it on the basis that it’s somewhere in between the M1 and Triton, and seeing as I have both of those had assumed those sort of sounds were largely covered (especially given they did not model the MOSS board which would have made it much more interesting to me, and less in need of a Z1). What am I missing?

Now that we have the Trinity plugin, it would be really sweet if Korg released its multisamples as a library for wavestate, like how the M1 and WAVESTATION multisamples are available for it.

(To me specifically, the Trinity tends towards sounds more like what you'd get on video game soundtracks from 1995 to 2000. It's a bit dirtier than the Triton, but not as low-fi as the M1 and Wavestation, and the filters do more than the Triton's.)

OASYS was supported for a number of years (close to 7 or 8?), it was definitely not abandoned shortly after release. Unless your friend bought it in the last year lol. But even then it doesn't matter as it was and still is a solid workhorse, beautifully luxurious too.zvenx wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 1:35 pm I have a friend in Ja who bought the hardware Oasys for 8,000 US then Korg abandoned it shortly after, I still tease him about it.

I meant shortly after he bought it. Yes he coincidentally bought it a few weeks before the announcement I think..EvilDragon wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 2:52 pmOASYS was supported for a number of years (close to 7 or 8?), it was definitely not abandoned shortly after release. It's because the way PS synths achieve polyphony is by dividing down 12 main oscillators. So it's like an organ in that regard. So microtuning just tunes those main oscillators before dividing them down.tumface wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 2:26 pm Interesting discovery: The PS-3300 only seems to support 12 note octave temperaments and tunings. Tough luck but they really did support it very well, adding synthesis engines throughout the years...zvenx wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 2:54 pmI meant shortly after he bought it. I'm sure most people never exhausted full capabilities of all those engines.
