Yeah, that's exactly what I guessed.EvilDragon wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 2:56 pm It's because the way PS synths achieve polyphony is by dividing down 12 main oscillators. So it's like an organ in that regard. So microtuning just tunes those main oscillators before dividing them down.

The divide down oscillators for octaves on the PS-3300 are really cool. Reminds me of string machines (well, duh.) Playing stacked octaves has a nice stable sound, unlike most poly synths, where the octaves will randomly phase cancel with each other unless you intentionally throw them far enough out of tune to create chorusing.

I have the Triton plugin, and am just wondering if there’s any advantage with this new one.MattMusic wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 11:55 am Great, was waiting for the Trinity, used to have the TR-Tack![]()

It sounds different. As mentioned, filters are way more flexible.

Triton doesn't include the same sounds. However, Trinity does include pretty much all of the famous M1 sounds while having a better interface and they also modeled the A/D converters on it so it can basically replace the M1.

I look forward to trying the Trinity. I kind of miss the TR-rack that I had at the time. I read the TR samples are included, but are the patches there as well?

Yes, in banks C and D. Both sets of combis and progs are there.Danno wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 4:38 pm I look forward to trying the Trinity. I kind of miss the TR-rack that I had at the time. I read the TR samples are included, but are the patches there as well?

I didn't have much to do with the Trinity plug-in, but I'll add that sample playback is also different in comparison to the Triton. The Trinity's interpolation algorithm was very high-quality, similar to the Emu EIII/EIV, and correspondingly computationally expensive - resulting in more complex and expensive silicon. The Triton doubled the number of voices, but used less fancy interpolation. (The M3 restored the Trinity's method; the HD-1 improved it slightly.) There were other differences in the treatment of the PCM data. As a whole, I might describe the Trinity as more hi-fi, and the Triton as more gritty. Both have their place, certainly.EvilDragon wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 3:37 pm It sounds different. As mentioned, filters are way more flexible.

The Trinity certainly holds a place in history and there is of course a lot of nostalgia for many around it. Kudos to everyone at Korg for making thisdanatkorg wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 5:08 pmI didn't have much to do with the Trinity plug-in, but I'll add that sample playback is also different in comparison to the Triton. Now that we have ported one of the engines from Kronos over can we get MOD7 next?

I can do without MOSS expansion in Trinity plugin as long as Z1 plugin happens!

I'd like a Korg 03R/W so I can finally sell my hardware unit on....(not that it gets used these days).

I have similar issue with Trinity.Aloysius wrote: Tue Oct 28, 2025 2:00 pm I'm trying not to spend money on upgrading, so this is as negative as I could make it.
SGX-2 Unable to try the demo. Virus Threats found.
PS-3300. If someone told me this was a Cherry Audio synth, I'd believe them.
Trinity. Some nice sounds but I think I have them covered a hundred times over.
Windows 11
It downloads and then i get a message from windows security center that a virus is found so i can't install it.
Had the same issue with a few of the new collection 5 plugins when they where released too.

Unquarantine it/allow the executable on the system, restart KORG Software Pass and reinstall, it will work.
The executable seems like it was signed, so it's strange that this is happening.
