I really don't see the reason for such vitriol. My main complaint is in some rookie mistakes in the UI design, like making you scroll through wave shapes or noise types. OK, maybe the entire UX could benefit from a redesign, but it's not too hard to figure out.

It's got a weird, thin, buzzy sort of vibe, but I dig it. Do I need another synth? No. Could what I have be bent to do similar sounds? Yes. Do I think I'll buy it because it's worth $49 to get this specific group of features? Also, yes. I like it. I like that it's not trying to sound "good." I've got lush, warm, organic, etc, synths coming out of my butthole, so something like this, which seems to have a ton of personality, is attractive.

I think there’s a difference in development philosophy and depth.
GForce and Cherry Audio can release synths faster because they’re reusing a lot of internal frameworks. Engine, UI system, preset handling, etc. Once that’s in place, a “new” synth often means re-skinning, changing oscillator/filter behavior, and adding a few new twists.

Companies like u-he or Xfer usually build things from the ground up, with much deeper DSP design, sound accuracy, and long-term maintenance in mind. That’s why stuff like Repro or Zebra3 takes years.

I could be wrong, but I don’t remember GForce being very active with frequent updates for their older plugins either, so that might explain how they can push new ones out more quickly.
Its over for Bitwig--CUBASE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was / am a big fan of Halogen. This otoh, based on the videos so far, looks and sounds not great. I'm not a huge fan of the Buchla type modular sound as is, just not the most musical sound to me. I have Bazille & Reaktor already which both sound as good as I could ever hope for if I want something along those lines.

I have yet to hear a single sound I remotely like in any of the Gforce vids. Going to pass on this one.

Your reaction if you bothered to elaborate, to a 3-min synth promo video featuring 2 people, would get you banned or possibly a visit from the cops?

You might want to get that seen to, mate. Sounds nasty.

Good luck!

I won't comment on my views on males displaying this kind of passive aggressive behavior either, that one would have me de-banked

Ok, here’s a proper detailed walkthrough of what’s on offer. Seems it’s *much* deeper than perhaps some of us thought from the first video.
Starting to think this might actually be a really good ‘experimental’ synth … whatever that means!

I've an idea and if it's the case i'll not use them
Interesting you should mention that. Since I noticed a definite "shift" in GForce's marketing strategy, pricing and business model over the past few years.

I think GForce used to market more to professional musicians, based upon higher priced products for a more limited clientele. I think they perhaps viewed their direct rivals as companies like "u-he".

I think that has shifted towards prioritising higher volume sales with lower priced products to a wider audience, to compete more with the "Cherry Audios" of the world.

They very often have sales with discounts that compare favourably with even Cherry Audio plugins. Albeit, GForce software's synths are of a much higher quality, imho.

So perhaps, that has been more profitable for them. And if so, who could knock them for that? I bought their products when they cost more and I also benefit now, buying them cheaper. If it means many more customers are also willing to purchase GForce plugins, then everybody wins.

I am interested in seeing where these new synths they are currently making take the company. They have already created so many great homages to vintage synths, it's nice to see them step outside of that comfort zone.

I am not too concerned about the frequency of new plugin releases from this developer. GForce Software have years worth of R&D to call upon, so I doubt they are being lazy or half-assing their new stuff. They seem eager to try a new direction, which is encouraging to see. I just hope the company stays successful for many years to come.

Not quite sure what to think of this one, yet...

The basic sound has a "raw, edgy" character that I like (sometimes), but sometimes it just sounds too digital, maybe. That, and a lot of the sounds are slathered in FX which tends to obscure the basic sound quality.

Some of the factory patches are cool, but I get the feeling I'm covered with stuff that does basically the same thing already.
A well-behaved signature.

Seems like a bit of a hodge podge of familiar synths (as mentioned above), not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm not sure that I found anything exceptional in there to make it stand out. Available on intro at JRR for $55 with coupon code (haven't seen $49, maybe GBP, as mentioned above), which seems like a reasonable price for what it offers. On the fence (do I really need another ...), even at that price?

I didn't watch either video, I demo'd it myself. It really doesn't feel any deeper than several other options, and unlike what the marketing text seemed to be going for, it just doesn't feel inviting to me to explore it.

If other folks like it, that's great, have fun.

I’m getting the feeling (without proof) that the recent non-vintage G-Force synths might be made by a different company, releasing them under the G-Force umbrella.
Or perhaps a new set of designers have been brought onboard. I personally have no interest in these, I’m happier with the dusty old emulations. As long as it isn’t yet another Oberheim!

I find this entire Neo conservative thing to be fascinating. Pretty soon we'll have women in poodle skirts and bobby socks demoing synthesizers, as they'll be the ones considered socially acceptable. "Aw shucks Bobby! Have you heard the new cool vibes coming from GForce? They're dreamy!"

Gforce does very nice DSP. I'm more likely to check this out than any of the jillion remakes of analog synths they've released over the past few years.
