For me on 26.0.1 everything works except the Native Instruments installer. I think the issue is with destinations on external drives. Working with support on it. But mostly it "just works".

Is there any benefit at all in updating to Tahoe (unless you have to because buying a new Mac)? Seems to be mostly a terrible new GUI and they removed Launchpad.

Just had an interesting being-forced-to-reboot.

The screensaver asking for the password was double. First with my chosen picture, which worked for unlock, but then a second one with the Tahoe picture, where the return key didn't work. No way to get the console back except rebooting over ssh.

One thing LLMs are good at is doing a bunch of web searches for you and digesting the results. So here's a sample list of many of my dependencies and current Tahoe support status; easy to do this for yourself:

I'm reading a fair number of people are having audio dropouts. Don't know if it's associated with a particular brand of interface or more general. I'm staying on Sequoia.

A couple of months ago I asked AI whether Tahoe is more resource-demanding than Sequoia and it seemed not. I recently asked again and this time I was told that it is to a significant degree. I have projects that push Logic and my Mac to their limits, has anyone noticed a difference in performance after upgrading?

How can you ask a LLM about this? It'll just echo a random opinion from somewhere on the web. It's not that the LLM runs the program for testing, or that it looks at Apple's source code.

I have a heavily loaded Mac and it did not slow down with macOS 26.x

In practice it randomly comes up with one of them without considering what is best or considering what is "average". And that is only when it doesn't outright make stuff up.

That's not the impression I've gotten even from the currently available free tools, and the level of sophistication I've seen in examples of paid tools is astounding. Anyway, I ask the question to real people on an audio-specific forum as a follow-up.

But you said you already got conflicting answers out of LLMs on this question.

Yes, spread out over quite a long time, with Tahoe now being available for longer hence more data available. I don't remember the exact prompts either. On top of that there's been a recent update which may have improved performance.

macOS 26 Tahoe is there - Can I upgrade?
