Yea I don't know about that, I think they do some stuff with their graphics that others don't seem to. I remember going back and forth with them when they first released their vu meter, it took
some effort to get the ballistics to animate correctly. In the end it still wasn't as good as Tony
Frenzel's meter ballistics imo...

*I know you understand that one of the beauties of programming is that you can do things pretty
much however you want. Often this can require a lot of work to accommodate different systems
that are supposed to adhere to the same basic standards, like DAW's. It must be very frustrating,
when something is a good idea somewhere and less so in others because of whatever.

Read my above comment, once again.

Just bought Saturator and Infinistrip. Crashfest since then. I guess no response yet, right?

Regarding this, have you tried the latest NobleQ update (1.8.5)??

Code: Select all

- VST3SDK v.3.7.14 standard for macOS and Windows
- New graphic engine - migrated UI rendering from deprecated OpenGL to native platform backends:
  * DirectComposition on Windows
  * Metal on macOS
The changelog says this is what changed, and it doesn't crash anymore on my end!
I think it's exactly for the UI rendering engine, so any external test will be useful!

I need to do some more testing but for now the buggiest of all are Infinistrip and the Saturator/Impressor.
God save the Groove!

I have a few PSP plugins (BinAmp, VintageWarmer2, 608MD, Xenon) and use multiple hosts like Bitwig, Cubase, Reaper. I exclusively use VST3 plugins, I regularly even clean up my VST2 folder from installer that don't let me control it. I don't have crashes in Bitwig (5.3.13 and 6.0 beta 4) with the mentioned ones when I launch them, also none in other hosts. I don't have Live though.

Post

on a Mac I never had problems with PSP vst3 crashing on either Bitwig or Ableton (or any other brand, for that matter). Bitwig, in particular, has been rock solid.

I’ll have to check, it’s only in some DAWs that I have trouble in Live, Reaper, S1 they work fine.

Have you filed a ticket on the PSP site?
Where it says "More questions ask below".

I did on a different issue one night earlier this week and got a reply, and resolution the next day.

PSP FetPressor. The GR needle is not moving in Bitwig 5 (VST3, Win 11).

aaargh. Why didn't I check this thread before ? I feel so pissed off !

I just bought Saturator, and was quite happy after a short demo period because it sounds great and is very useful.
Then I used it for the first time in a session with plenty of other stuff, and it's crashing Live systematically. At first it was ok, but it started to be a crash fest when I started to use more than 3 instances of Saturator in the session.

Until some point, I was obliged to remove the plugin from its folder in order to just recall the session.
Of course, it was not crashing when demoing with only few other plugins and audio clips... Right now it's running in an almost empty Live session and there's no issues.

I've got maybe 300 plugins installed : none is ever crashing Live, and recently I was pretty happy to have the most stable Live version ever... I use only vst3 versions of my plugins... So definitely, it's a PSP problem. I feel truly pissed of.

specs : Saturator 1.1.3 / vst3 / Ableton Live 12.2 / Macbook Pro M1 pro / Sonoma 14.8.1

So it's not system specific. Interesting. I had to say, switching Saturator and Infinistrip back to VST2 helped me a a lot. Crashess much less. Vintage Warmer is the only plugin I have from them, where the VST3 istance behaves correctly.

vst 2 works fine ime, that is the solution for the PSP problem, unfortunately...

I'm also having problems with Saturator, VST3/Live 12, latest macOS. It was hard to pinpoint and I can’t reproduce it reliably, but once I add a Saturator instance Live tends to crash when saving the project.

Also, after opening the GUI I have to click in the interface first to get the knobs moving. VW2 had the same problem, but they finally solved it in the latest update.

Will try the vst2 version and I’ll contact support, but I’m a bit disappointed tbh. I had PSP pegged as reliable, but that’s clearly false. They haven’t even updated Saturator in almost two years. That’s baffling, haven’t seen anything like that in a while.

I sent a ticket from their site yesterday, but I don't even have any confirmation email. Is it normal ?
To me it doesn't smell good, and I've got impression I will not see any fix before the end of the world (that may be near).
I already own E27 and Twin-L, and was thinking PSP were more serious than that...

Post

They would fix it if they knew what the problem was, but they don't.
