What guitar gear have you bought/are you buying/will you buy?

Since a long time I got a new guitar. Its a Spuler with Paradis pick-up and Polybass. Got it directly from Matthias Grob and a friend of mine modified the top. I had to find a GP-10 from Japan to connect it to my laptop.
I am not a guitarist per se, but this is a dream come true. All 6 strings separately to mangle them differently and play MPE synths directly…

New Strings, wow what a difference.
Now that I'm down to the final five of my final 6 (one needs repair) I decided if I was going to play all of them all would have fresh strings.

I installed flatwounds on my electric. Sounds lifeless and dull. They’re great on my archtop, possibly because those are a heavy gauge.

Checking out Nembrini's amp sim offerings. Currently on sale 2 for $29.99 Not a fan of the fidelity. Aliasing?

I think I'll go for ML Amped Roots 2. It sounds great in stereo with FX. 50% off at the mo. Heavy tones mostly from this amp, but with minimum gain and GuitarML's Prince pedal as boost gives pleasing results.

Wild, congrats. Those things always look amazing. Did you get the trademark many knobs?VicDiesel wrote: Sat Nov 01, 2025 9:55 pm Since there is no "Bass" forum I'll mention it here: after a lifetime of longing finally got an Alembic.

You wouldn't believe the amount of times I've walked into a guitar store asked for flatwounds. Then got a lecture about why flatwounds; aren't good for jazz guitars, or how they make no difference in sound. Either instance my reply was the same. "Just sell me my strings and I'll be on my way"Uncle E wrote: Sat Nov 01, 2025 5:55 pm I installed flatwounds on my electric. Sounds lifeless and dull. Not surprisingly none of those guitar stores are still around.

New pair of Sony wired noise cancelling headphones. They are Sony and that tells me everything. Lots of low end that I don't need plenty of clarity in the high end and almost no mids to speak of.
In other words $200 and I think they suck.
While I'm sure I could eq them via the app if I were to use the bluetooth feature It's coming out of my Zoom Livetrak 8 mixing board which operates as a sound card and a conventional digital mixer for my analog gear (guitars, vocals, other hardware.)
The pricing gap is too wide between cheap wired and expensive wired headphones in my opinion. These may be some 20 something wet dream but they aren't mine.

Apparently D'addario is having tariff issues and as a result they are not being purchased by middlemen then to retailers.

I had the same experience with flatwounds on solid body guitars. Even on my semi hollow ES 339 they sounded dull.Uncle E wrote: Sat Nov 01, 2025 5:55 pm I installed flatwounds on my electric. Sounds lifeless and dull. They’re great on my archtop, possibly because those are a heavy gauge.
Until I tried the Pyramid Fusion Flats. They are a sort of hybrid between round- and flatwound. The windings are flat but they overlap, which gives them a roundwound feel and shimmer with a touch of flatwound warmth.

Thanks. I don't have that sort of budget... Mine is relatively traditional, though still a really nice instrument.

How is Matthias? I used to communicate with him a lot back in the Looper’s Delight mailing list days. I miss a lot of those people.Tj Shredder wrote: Sat Nov 01, 2025 7:11 am Since a long time I got a new guitar. Its a Spuler with Paradis pick-up and Polybass. I met Matthias recently in Berlin and he is fine. During winter he is going back to south Amerika… Two years ago I met him by accident at a community north of Berlin, but he left that place and is in Berlin as long he is in Germany…
