My son just stole my Mic - Rode NT1-A, didn't like it anyway, what would be a decent upgrade? Up to £500 ish

I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions for almost every mic in your price range, but I'll start with the Warm Audio mics. Full disclosure - I haven't used them personally, but I keep reading/hearing good things about the WA-87jr and, especially, WA-47jr vocal mics. I have a couple of more expensive condenser mics (Mojave MA-200 and AKG C414), but I'm still occasionally tempted to pick up a WA-47jr based on the excellent reviews and low price ($299 USD).
Oh, and be sure to make your son handle all of your household chores for the next two months.
