"AND LISTEN THE Sound"
Proof-reading error on main page immediately puts me off despite the hellishly low potential, or the ghastly "AND LISTEN THE Sound" demos which all sort of sound the same? The synth engine behind it sounds incredibly boring.
Do we fear it? Who are we? Is it a real ass-organ?
It doesn't look like anybody actually downloaded it (I'm not surprised), swathes of users will but are they gaining an advantage by using AI synths? We know the answer is no. (and one of the saddest parts for me is that they aren't really learning anything about synthesis). But the money industries are really good at telling people the answer is yes. And people want to believe the answer is yes, because why would they lie? I love money!
We will obviously see more of these AI-slop synths (some people think it's a really good use of their time to explore/develop/use it) so I wonder when the first actual good one, made by a reputable company, will rear its strangely-softened head for us to mallet back down. One of the giants? Roland? Yamaha? We already know NI are looking at giving MassiveX something like that.
Creatively, this guk thing _might_ help people who just like playing nice noises and have no interest in the 'how' of what they're doing (and those people do apparently exist, I struggle to understand how they stay alive, but anyway). It _might_ pique their curiosity towards the magical world of synthesis, but the sort-term attention span of a large chunk of our culture could well dampen that interest.
I dunno.
Anyway, did anyone do the dirty and actually try it? Rather you that me..
I'd much rather have an opinion about it than use it!
Afterall, isn't that what kvr is all about?

isn't it basically just presets? but you have to describe them, rather than surf the list.

Isn't this what Waves keeps asking me to subscribe to?
Describe a scene, mood or crazy idea, ILLUGEN will convert it into sound.
Get one-shot samples – original material for sound design, loops for musical building blocks, and SFX for textures and tension builders.
^ That is from the webpage.

Taking into consideration the general tone and responses of this thread, I’m shocked we’re at page two and there’s no suggestion yet to ask for a brown note…

On a serious note: leaving the written request aside for a moment, but about twenty years ago there was a synth called Neuron which promised to be able to listen to sound and, thanks to neural networks, set its parameters so it could reproduce it (that’s what I understood from the reviews on paper magazines at the time, I never look into it even when it was set free many years later).

The Hartman neuron used some form of analysis (probably fft) to drive some kind of resynthesis. It's was pretty weak. Also incredibly expensive. To be fair most neural nets are convolutional neural nets that use iterative convolutional filtering to sort data. The neuron was pretty bad though. They seemed to go out of business pretty quickly afterwards.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

be that as it may, i guess some folks need all the help they can get, and champ, good for you in not being too ashamed to kinda admit that you do. after all, if one is creatively fulfilled, what does it matter what anyone thinks?BONES wrote: Wed Nov 05, 2025 6:02 amI bet it does a better job than you would if I asked you instead.coffee or coffee wrote: Mon Nov 03, 2025 4:42 pmsubcontracting creativity to inaccurate slop machines is a way to go

I don't need help, I was doing this more than 40 years ago with absolutely, completely and utterly none at all. I'm just not so f**king stupid that I'll ignore anything that might make the process easier and/or improve the results.coffee or coffee wrote: Wed Nov 05, 2025 3:01 pmbe that as it may, i guess some folks need all the help they can get, and champ, good for you in not being too ashamed to kinda admit that you do. after all, if one is creatively fulfilled, what does it matter what anyone thinks?

Man, could this thing sound any worse? I'd even take my chances trying to program a DX7 over the crap this puts out. Typical A.I. thing... looking forward to the day it's actually good, so I can finally worry about musician's careers.

Given that this thing is already more than a year old, I think you'll discover that the time has come right now.
