Simple Bm pentatonic melody. I've been going through plugins and synths I haven't use much since I bought them and thought for this one I'd play around with Madrona Labs AAlto, Kiavo, and Sumu. I think they're a bit too organic and unpredictable to become some of my favorites, but you can definitely get some good sound design nuggets out of them. I probably just need to get better at using them? There's a bunch of Serum in here, and PhasePlant, and the bx_Oberhausen as well which I really like.

Anyway:

Some really tasty spectral transformations. Pretty wild composition too. Well done!

Your numbering of the songs is certainly unusual. But I get used to it.

So what does 143.8 sound like?

It's almost impossible to assess and describe, since you use such unusual
instruments - incredible! When I heard "Sumo" I first thought of "Udio",
but no, Sumo is this: Sumo? Is that it? I wonder ... :o

This instrumental is very original, strange, sometimes sounding metallic,
but still balanced thanks to the bass. The ending sounds like a dying sperm
whale - an end in a double sense. I really like the track, it's very well done! :tu:

I'm a terrible typist. I meant to write Sumu: https://madronalabs.com/products/sumu?locale=us Which has a companion app Vutu that allows you to make your own partials out of any sound for Vutu. It's quite fun, but a bit difficult to wrap your head around at times. I think people that use modular synths would have an easy time with it.

The last track I posted Seismic1 heard galloping horses and now you hear a dying whale. Seems like a theme I should continue to follow in some way.

Thanks as always for listening enroe!

It's a different soundset, but it's got the trademark eassae sound, especially the heavy, dubstep-like percussion. I liked the lead synth lines and their harmonic sounds. The intro and outro synths sound quite tasty too, almost like a ring-mod.

Good work :D

I've been listening to a lot of this kind of stuff today. Guess I'm in the mood. Of course this seems to be the most common kinds of tracks posted here. Not a lot of pop rock, that's for sure. LOL

Anyway, great mix. Very well done. Really enjoyed this. Your choice of synths is interesting. I don't own any of the Madrona Labs stuff. Maybe I should venture into this area.

Thanks seismic1,

The intro and outro, dying whale synth, is Sumu. There's some AM going on, and it also has a section called pulses that breaks up the audio spectrum into 64(I think) slices and sends signals to the sources you designate—you can make the pulses go in all sorts of patterns.

The lead is serum 2, I've been having fun making leads using comb filters to give them a more organic feel.

That mixdown is great. I think you should compose music for films. You got a knack for atmospheric, adventurous stuff.

Thanks for listening wagtunes. I think Madrona Labs is worth checking out. Their synths works much differently that the current crop of Swiss Army knife, easy to use, synths like Serum, Pigments, and PhasePlant, but pretty fun all the same.

Thanks very much osiris! Scoring films is the #1 comment I've got from people over the years…maybe I should listen.

I listen to your stuff and I can just imagine it backing some great sci fi stuff. Not a bad gig if you can get it. I'd go for making a portfolio of 'imaginary' film scores and put it out there and tell people you are available. (You'd probably make more money than most people on Spotify.) And don't limit to film. There's a TON of video games that use music. I don't think that's discussed nearly enough on here or even in music circles in general. At least none I've seen.

Thanks osiris, I had a creative agency approach me a few years ago about doing stuff for commercials, but that's really not my thing—films and games may be fun though. I do worry about having the thing I love become a job, but maybe I should give it a try and see how it goes?
