This. Maybe KVR should create an algorithm to bury threads when bickering starts

Anyway, this still sounds great to me and I'm holding onto hope of a BF sale in the not too distant future, at which point I'll be pleased to grab it.

It was actually between this and the Korg Multi Poly native. That thing sounds great to me, but so does Proxima and it seems much easier to use. And quicker.

There's no way he'd release the synth without an introductory discount and then put it on sale a couple of weeks later. You'll probably have to wait until Black Friday 2026 at least, unless a reseller puts it on sale before that.

Yes, the envelopes can go very fast and consistent. You can also set the oscillator starting phases using the mod matrix.

Without the bickering KVR would cease to exist (I guess the same could be said for the internet as a whole) :hihi:

Or hear me out...maybe there was no introductory price because there will be a Black Friday deal. I suppose it all depends on how well it's selling now at full price.

At any rate I don't think anyone is qualified to say "no way" to anything that Synapse may or may not do except Synapse themselves.

The expectation in this market is that something is either released with a time limited introductory discount, or if not, is released at full price and won't go on sale until a reasonable amount of time has passed. Two or three weeks would not be reasonable, IMO. Anyone who bought it at full price during that brief period would be justified in feeling like the dev pulled a fast one on them. I would be very surprised if Proxima went on sale any time soon.

Except in this case two or three weeks put us square in the Black Friday sales range where there are indeed expectations for lower prices.

And you may very well be right but again I suppose it depends on sales figures at this point.

If it's selling well there may be no incentive to give any price break at all at any time. If it's struggling, and I doubt very much that it is, then there may be incentive to lower price at some point in the not too distant future. Perhaps some time in the holiday period.

But the salient point is that neither one of us know so should not be taking it upon ourselves to speak on what Synapse may or may not do.

Anyway discussion of finances aside, to me Proxima is a synth that really loves to be layered with itself.

Here's three lead patches that really go well with each other when layered, whether all three at once or in combinations of two. At least for the kind of lead sounds I like to play.

I will say for def there will not be any money off Proxima this year. Richard and Co would not do over the early customers like that.

Proxima is way easier to use, but also much simpler. I'd say its analog modeling is also a step up from Multi/Poly as well, but that's because it's a lot more synth. If you're looking for basic vintage analog sounds with a bonus mod matrix, there's no doubt that Proxima is the way to go, but if you want to do more interesting synthesis, it falls far short of Multi/Poly.

Curious to know what you mean by this.
Of course one is based on an actual hardware unit and the other, well hardware but virtual.
