I think The Legend HZ can cover that :)
The MemoryMoog has Curtis filters or something right? I think it was closer to a Prophet (on paper) than a poly Minimoog. But I digress...
meh, thats nitpicking, in the end brass will sound like a brass, maybe off at 8khz by 1 or half db.

I wasn't sure so I looked it up:

While many other parts of the synth, such as the oscillators and VCAs, do use Curtis chips (like the CEM3340 for VCOs and CEM3360 for VCAs), the legendary ladder filters were intentionally designed using the original, analog circuit method.

Post

Ah ok. I knew it was something like that! That's an interesting combo. So Curtis VCAs and VCOs and classic Moog ladder filter. Someone should make it so in VST land.

I'm imaging it's somewhere between a Rev 3 Prophet and a Moog tonally.

Richard from Synapse was planning on doing one after what became Proxima. I'm hoping that's still in the cards.
Softube's version, if they had one, would almost assuredly sound better to me. But also be more frustratingly limited.
You can tell which of two products that don't exist, sounds better?

Wow, that is a serious skill you have there
Have you ever studied history? Have you ever made a prediction in your life? No? Wow. You're a bit strange, then. I applaud your ignorant ways.

I predicted you wouldn't have a decent comeback :tu:

I can accurately predict I won’t read any more of your posts. Filler like you is a waste of time.

I predicted you would spit your dummy too.

Petty squabbles aside, it would be nice to see something like the Memorymoog be done by Softube. I like their Juno a slight bit more than Arturia's, but UAD already has me covered on the Minimoog front so it'd be neat to see one of the less popular Moogs get adapted.

I’d like two or three to choose from to decide which one is best for me.

Here are some videos by Marc Doty on the Memorymoog.

This synth sounds great but stock bank is small, any free bank around please?

The plug-in comes with three libraries/banks of presets, including the original synth presets. Softube doesn't explain that on the website.

There are a lot of presets available for free for the original synth, but Softube has added a few extra options to their version of the synth, so any free presets you find won't load in this, and may not sound exactly the same. But the synth is also extremely easy to program. I'm not a synth programmers, and I find it easy to use, especially if you start with a preset close to the sound you want, and adjust it to get what you want.

This one sounds great, but Softube is either lazy or ignorant to not put up a solution for the noise issue in the software, which makes it into a bad position again.

I used to own a Juno 106. Yes, the chorus is BBD and is noisy by design. But if it is as loud as this one, clearly audible even when no note being played, then it means your device needs service and you need to get the MN3009 chip replaced.

The noise isn't modeled in a correct way either. On real hardware you'd hear the amount of noise reduced when you lower your VCA level but the noise level stays the same on Model 84. So Softube isn't really introducing the noise because it's the same behavior on hardware. They are essentially trying to cheat on the "vintage feeling" by putting in some noise and call it a day.

I don't mind the noise when played. But audible noise when idle needs to be dealt with.

noise gate and it's done ^

no other 106 VSTi touches it, especially for $33 till monday

Post

Yeah, it's not impossible to deal with it using a noise gate or dynamic eq. But that should have been built into the software from the very beginning. How about a button/fader on the side panel which allows better control of the noise level? Design issue.

I agree it sounds great and is a real bargain at the price though.
