I don’t think the folks who are happy with Triaz are necessarily in the minority. I think it’s great too.
Some folks don’t like it, and some like to bitch, and some of them bitch about various devs habitually, online, like in KVR.
As Bertie Basset would say, it takes allsorts. Which is absolutely fine.

Here are my complaints/frustrations with it (in no particular order):
- The pattern randomiser button is down the bottom right and the actual randomiser up the top. They should be side by side or ideally in the very same spot so I can click and click.
- No ability to lock parameters in the sequencer to not have them randomise. If I've adjusted the loop length to 16 steps, I want it to stay at 16 steps.
- Pattern randomisation isn't random at all. It essentially just cycles through a few presets (of which there aren't many, you'll soon be seeing the same ones again).
- To enter the repeat/change/start/etc parameters I need to click out of randomise pattern view. This might come with muscle memory but currently I'm forever searching for the button. This wouldn't be an issue if the randomise button was down the bottom as per my comment above.
- The random options for repeat/change/start/etc are hidden underneath the track name to the left. Why not in the same place as the pattern randomiser? It's almost as if two people designed these sections - there is no cohesion in the GUI and workflow. Again, this would be possible if the randomise button was down the bottom right.
- No randomise intensity for repeat/change/start/etc
- Velocity mod depth on pitch seems to only go +/-1 octave instead of 2 on the coarse knob. Why restrict it? I need the full +/-2.
- I really dislike the new style EQ they've implemented (this is personal preference, I know some will love it) - I just want a simple low/high cut option. I know I can use the filter for this but often I'm using that for creative purposes.
- The "similar sounds" option in the drum randomiser seems to do nothing, or at best, very very little. I'm getting the exact same sounds with it on or off, ie they're all variations of sounds within that category. With it off, I want it to throw a kick in after the snare, followed by a rim, followed by a whistle etc. I'm using random to be surprised and inspired, so surprise and inspire me.
- The sequencer needs a random reverse playback option.
- The pattern randomiser needs to randomise everything (ie, repeat/change/start/etc) along with the steps. Or if you don't want this, the ability to lock what you don't want.
Also, I would like to make it perfectly clear, I'm not whinging for the sake of whinging. I really really want to love this because I can see the potential, however it just feels quite half-arsed to me.
I'm incredibly willing to be proven wrong on any of these points. In fact I want to be, so please correct me if so.

Triaz is my goto xOx style drum sampler/sequencer.
I think the core elements of per track (or even per layer) sound manipulation and sequencer are great. It's so strong that it kind of lessens the need for having massive sample diversity.
I think there are better randomisers for sequencing like Playbeat 4. But that's really playbeat's biggest strength and the sound generation aspect is pretty basic.

i like to get a basic midi beat on the piano roll in Cubase, then I record it into Triaz. From there it's easier to do a few little pitch edits and such, then export the midi back into Cubase with Pitch envelopes (etc) embedded. The interface is marginally better than most DAWs. One unfortunate aspect of Triaz along with Playbeat - they don't adhere to any GM style MIDI assignments... i mean the kick, snare, hats etc are often triggered by different MIDI notes, so browsing through kits with your own drum sequence can be a bit hit and miss.

soooo… we have a new triaz expansion:
https://www.wavealchemy.co.uk/product/dna/
looks like what could be the triaz-version of revolution. i like the idea of having more „classic“ drummachines in triaz. I probably should get this.

Triaz is by far the best drum machine plugin I've tried so far. Excellent drum instrument.
On the flip side, I'm just not a drum machine guy. I relearn this lesson every time I buy a new one. Like there's some holy grail drum machine that will make me want to change my workflow.
At least Triaz is good enough that I'm not going to be tempted to buy another one any time soon.

I just hit their site, and they have an added enticement of Lo-Fi Spring included with purchase of the expansion, maybe only during this introductory period.

Yeah I bought the DNA expansion and they threw in Lofi Spring along with the SP-DMX sample pack for free. Pretty good deal and DNA is awesome.GreyLion wrote: Wed Nov 12, 2025 1:56 amThanks for the heads-up, audio/fault!audio/fault wrote: Tue Nov 11, 2025 8:53 pm soooo… we have a new triaz expansion:

Nice. Some more standard/vanilla kits for this will be so good.
Did this expansion need an update of Traiz itself to install? I know a previous expansion needed an update of Traiz?

I don't think it needs a Triaz update, because there hadn't been any for the last few month.
This sample pack looks really decent, especially considering that you get a good regular sample pack with LOTS of content with it.
Just hoping that they're also delivering on those Triaz Updates they already hinted at in their future roadmap. Looks like they have some delays, but from their roadmap I think they have good plans and ideas!

I immediately bought it (love Triaz and want to support Wave Alchemy). However, if this is really meant to be the follow up to their Revolution Kontakt instrument, then I'm slightly disappointed. I hoped to see a native version of Revolution, so a plugin that truly tries to emulate those classic drum machines. Whereas DNA is just a sound pack. Don't get me wrong, I really like this, from what I heard so far. Just not the native version of Revolution that I was hoping for.audio/fault wrote: Tue Nov 11, 2025 8:53 pm soooo… we have a new triaz expansion:

I picked it up and can say I don't think it's anything like a Revolution. A lot of kits and patterns pretty great value imo.
Even if you didn't click with all the kits and sequences, just the amount of samples in this is pretty mind boggling. Perhaps too many to go through, but lots of really great samples.
Nice one WA!
