Are you saying that the folder that opens when you click “Open ROM Folder” is not the right folder? I opened the AU. Does this not open the correct path?

Anyone else managed to get the vst3 to work on Mac? Does the dequarantine work the same way as the AU? Didn’t seem to for me.

Are you saying the “Open ROM folder” does not open the correct folder when launched from AU? That’s the one I opened.

Anyone get the vst3 to show? I quarantined the same way as the AU but doesn’t show in Ableton.

I had a bunch of problems figuring out the behaviours and we went back and forth a little on the github about it. *Some* files can be at the standard location (which the standalone and the VST uses), but some files need to be in the sandboxed location.

If you want to use both the standalone or VST, and the AU, you must have the files in both locations.

Standard (Standalone/VST):
~/Library/JV880/

Sandboxed (AudioUnit/Logic)
~/Library/Containers/virtual_jv/Data/Library/JV880/

I also had to open the standalone to get it to create the necessary folders, otherwise the plugin would be crashy on launch - it was a bit flaky but I eventually got it working fine once I understood it's behaviours. You can read up on this here:

I don't generally use the VST versions, but I'm sure I used it while testing without problems...

Remember: its internal 32khz samplerate plays better on 48khz. You'll find jitter if you play it at 44.1Khz.
(Khz for the samplerate: Ksamples/second)

Wouldn't that be a question of having a reasonable sample rate converter at the output of the plugin? Or is that precisely the problem, that the sample rate converter is rather rudimentary and can't handle non-fractional rates?

Post

Yep, that would be not a complex part, there are some examples of resamplers around the cloud.

Can someone upload a screenshot of the roms in their correct locations please? I seem to be stuck on this point.

Are there any plans to work on the GUI of this a bit more? I notice it had some changes made back in August, but it is still too large for my laptop display (old Macbook Pro), the bottom of the GUI is always off screen so selecting those patches/parameters is impossible to do with the trackpad/mouse pointer. For instance, a scaling option would be very welcome.

Isn't it made with JUCE (which should have a good rate converter) ?

As far as I understand it, now the original developer has become part of TUS, it will eventually become a TUS plugin and be integrated into all their frameworks, so this pre-TUS version can be thought of more a prototype version than final. And when they do that, they will update the SRC and interface at that time, but as of now, they have other Ronald-ey priorities...

Post

This is fantastic and useful! But it's a little quirky for me. When I open it in Ableton it looks great, sounds great. But if I select a sound and then click off the display, when I want to see the VirtualJV interface again to select a different sound, I get a blank screen and cannot change sounds. Any way to fix that?

What's 'TUS'?

Morning All,
Being a bit dim here - will Virtual JV run on GarageBand and would you be prepared to message me installation instructions please? Have vst/au from GitHub, think folders are correct but no joy, have watched Mac video and followed instructions with no issues, still no luck.
Am a hardware ROMpler and Roland fan (not of their subscription model...), just restored a Roland U20 with fantastic new keyboard circuit board from Super Synth Projects and have refurbished a U220 rack unit with new LCD, now gone to a good home.
Thanks in advance,
John

I want to try this VST out, but I can't seem to get the ROM files working. I copied the .bin files for the ROMs into the ROM folder, but the VST isn't reading them. Am I doing something wrong here?

I'm using these ROMs I found on Internet Archive: [MOD REMOVED - PROBABLY NOT LEGAL];
