We did it!! My 6th graders have been kicking butt on recorder, so I challenged them with that Irish Mastadon melody. AND they learned C# in the same daysilverpants wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 10:13 pm I would love to see a video of your students playing Irish Mastodon! How wonderful that would be.

Not too bad right? For just one 5-min rehearsal? They rock.
But the FUNNIEST part was when I finally played the source material, and they spontaneously began synchronized dancing, pumping their recorders and kicking their legs to the beat. One kid was looking at the class like, "I'm so confused"
I can't show their faces, so I'm trying to blur them out, then maybe I'll share a link or edit this post. It's hilarious!
Oh, and here's the full, unsimplified, opening theme (did this last night in Musescore 3) OSC has officially made its way into my classroom!

This month, it has been impossible for me not to give so many 4-star ratings; there are many works that sound really good.

This warms my heart so much. So glad your class enjoyed the song and maybe learned some 6/8 in the process.aarongrooves wrote: Sun Nov 16, 2025 8:30 amAlright, dusted off my Davinci Resolve skills and managed to blur the faces. Hopefully Cyrus can learn to let the groove take him where it may.
Also thanks for the transcription! It will make teaching my band mates a lot easier. I need to figure out a good MIDI to notation method.

Congrats everyone, Fall is a very deserving winner in my eyes.
Who and what and why is "cristian f." giving everyone 1s without hesitation, -62.89%, is that a record of the modern era?
I was apparently too generous. I can't make up my mind on how to score a place where... well, won't launch into it.
In any case, I thought so many people did a great job this round!, but only 7 people thought I did a 5.
And a number of people saw there a 3, a 2, a 1? It's hard to not think of the scores when doing OSCs anymore. 1 year of pause didn't reset my feelings towards "what the contest stands for", it seems like. Ok, forget about me, how the hell do you give "Fall" anything less than 4? How? And not one, but 3 people? Oh, 2, one is a self vote, I forgot.
If it ain't broken, don't fix it, I know.
Why the DQs? Just curious. Oh, sorry, it says "not voted".
Congrats everybody, don't mean to rain on your parade.

I love music, worked with a number of music/rhythm/dance games like Pump It Up, In The Groove, Cytus and Deemo, and teach music production.
