Woah, the latency on this is insane. I guess it could be fun for production work, but if you think you're going to use it in a live situation, you've got another thing coming.

Finally got around to watching the videos and sound examples. This thing is giving me a serious case of GAS. Not gonna bite tho. Not gonna ...

I have only had the chance to take it for a quick test run but luckily I got the entire weekend reserved for FSU mangling
What I already know now is: it sounds spectacular!!!
Everyone would always like a cheaper price on everything, myself included....but creating stellar work takes time, and Sugar Bytes creates stellar work, which is almost always way above the rest of the industry...and time is money. This is well worth the price

The amount of options is crazy. Just when you think you've reached the end there's some other feature.
Like, as an example, when I had got to grips with the basics of the spectral/Resynthesis engines (Or thought I had) I went to the effects section thinking they were there just to add a little flavour but no... even the reverb has a freeze function that can be repitched to a scale.
Everywhere you look there's always some way to mangle the sound in some way.
This is probably Sugarbytes most comprehensive plugin to date. It's really deep but they did a phenomenal job with the UI. Everything is very clearly laid out. There is a learning curve on some of the specifics due the sheer amount of options on offer but in use they've really gone out of their way to make it very accessible

Does it have a lot of latency?

what does "live situation" mean here ?zerocrossing wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 2:33 am Woah, the latency on this is insane. I guess it could be fun for production work, but if you think you're going to use it in a live situation, you've got another thing coming.
i thought it is for sample mangling only, no live signal input ?
I personally have "there" not too big a problem with latencys. Even up to 200ms.
Qs:
- does it has settings for FFT based band count ?
- does it has settings for oversampling ?
spent my budget already. Not going to demo it right now
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.

I'm getting 218ms latency at 48k in Live 12 on a Mac so definitely dodgy for real time.Funky40 wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 2:30 pmwhat does "live situation" mean here ?zerocrossing wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 2:33 am Woah, the latency on this is insane. But it IS an effect and not an instrument.
It has adjustable FFT resolution of 64 to 4096 bands.
The resynthesis engine has 120 oscillators.
No oversampling as far as I can see.

The masking for all the spectral effects is stupendous. Lots of fun tricks that would take lots of time working in a modular DSP environment are easier to setup. I am massively impressed. I haven't seen a spectral effect this well done since spec ops came out.

It's an effect. Operating on whatever audio you are pumping into it. There's no way to get rid of the latency introduced by fft/ifft. I've found that lots of these kinds of effects are still useable live even with the added latency. Running these things on a send to generate background textures and effects is a fun use.Funky40 wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 2:30 pmwhat does "live situation" mean here ?zerocrossing wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 2:33 am Woah, the latency on this is insane. One of the chef's kiss parts of the masking is that if you have one or more of the masking numbers activated and load a preset the preset will only be loaded into the unmasked sections.
Another fantastic feature is that you can use Envelope 1's shape as a mask.
The amount of detail they've poured into this plugin is nothing short of staggering.
