Well, I have played the hardware and to me, I can't tell the difference. This synth is incredibly good and the best JP emulation out there.Teksonik wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 1:35 pm Once again we see the wannabe edge lords who have never owned, played, or even been in the same room as the hardware coming to examine the plugin with a scanning electron microscope looking for any perceived imperfection in the plugin so they can chant the KVR mantra "It doesn't sound like the hardware".![]()

Diva has the 8000 oscillator as one of the options. It can do nice sounds, but it's not quite the JP sounds, which is the sum of all it's parts and not just the oscillator.
Aiyn Zahev (the talented Sami Rabia) has a jp8080 video, and some Diva digital videos where you can hear the difference. Diva sounds are great, but can't capture the jp8080.
I hope he does a set for Airwave.

err... why? it's fine, but I doubt anyone can recall any particular characteristics an1x let alone any classic tracks.Trancer wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 11:27 am L'AN 1X, given your immense talent, would have been a truly brilliant idea and an exceptional VST, as always.
The JP really is it's own instrument, does have a unique sounds and was pretty ubiquitous for quite some time.
You are right though, this is a really great implementation of it. Amazing effort to make it!

@Adam Szabo
"My next project was going to be the Yamaha AN1X..."
AN1x, this is a great idea,
one of the best ideas I have ever heard.
French are not good at making Yamaha emus,
your name let's me assume you are closer to Japan haha

You're entitled to your opinion just don't ever confuse your opinion with facts.....Dark Fiber wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 1:49 pm Exactly, you really need the exact hardware in front of you to be entitled to an opinion. Even when the developer is posting a comparison video with the hardware unit in it, you cannot have any opinion about it. LOL

I'll take your word for it since I have never owned or played a JP-8080.wagtunes wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 6:45 pm Well, I have played the hardware and to me, I can't tell the difference. This synth is incredibly good and the best JP emulation out there.
Airwave is a great synth, buy it or don't. Some guy complaining about an imaginary imperfection is irrelevant.
How many times have we seen it over the years? "Oooooh it doesn't sound like the hardware". I've lost count.
What they fail to realize is that even if they are right "it doesn't sound like" does not mean it doesn't sound better.

I've stopped listening to the "It doesn't sound like the hardware" and the "Hardware is better than software" ramblings a long time ago. Let them ramble.Teksonik wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 7:37 pmI'll take your word for it since I have never owned or played a JP-8080.wagtunes wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 6:45 pm Well, I have played the hardware and to me, I can't tell the difference. Better is irrelevant. If someone is making an emulation, it should sound the same.Teksonik wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 7:37 pm

You mean like The Legend? Which sounds the same and better? The two are not mutually exclusive. A plugin can sound the same and also better with extended options.
The thing I push back against is the notion that the hardware always sounds better just because it's hardware. Hogwash.
I have soft synths that will destroy the JP-8080 hardware but I realize if someone has a nostalgic connection to the hardware unit then they want it to sound the same but to not want it to also sound better with certain parameter settings is just plain illogical.

Couldn't tell you, not my thing. The only time I tried a JP8000 the output was so noisy it made my ears hurt. Not a fan of that synth or its trademark sounds. But that's irrelevant too.Teksonik wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 7:56 pmYou mean like The Legend? Which sounds the same and better?
People who are fans of the hardware want the software to sound the same. If it doesn't, then it fails. Bells and whistles don't improve the original sound, they make new sounds.
Anyway, back to the new synth. Obviously a labour of love from Adam, and I'm sure he has made a lot of people happy, so all the best to him.
