Does this mean we can keep our old Mac’s and modularly expand for music production power? (whenever we can use Tahoe in a year or two)

We‘ll see, but I’m skeptical. You can connect Macs over TB right now, just not with 80 gb/s, but still with more than enough bandwidth to satisfy all you audio needs. The question is if there are any applications utilizing this feature, and if it’s worth the hassle.
If DAWs start to integrate something like that, right down to the total recall level, I might be interested. But I’m not holding my breath (and just get a new computer if the old one is becoming too slow).
