I`m with you all the way in that regard.

It's about manufacturers dumping everything on iLok and iLok in turn making it difficult for buyers to transfer a license. Not everyone was born with a golden spoon in their mouth. Here in the EU not everyone has a Visa Mastercard or what else. Why there is no PayPal ??
A pragmatical take of your issue,
doesn`t Paypal offer credit cards you can synchronize with your regular account?

iLok, well it`s perfect for me (the dongle in particular)
but I understand given reasons to not be a part of it.
The software itself runs rock solid since many moons here.

Have been using ilok for 30 years and never had an issue with it , on the contrary wish all my licenses are on it. It makes configuration of a new system a breeze.

Is that the same dongle? I had mine for a year (v3). It is indeed very comfortable when you have to reinstall the OS or migrate.

I bought my first iLok authorized plugins (kush omega transformers) in 2017 and used machine authorization for several years without any issues.

In mid 2024 I built a new PC and thinking of the Bathtub curve I thought I'd try and get the dongle.
After about a year I don't know WTF happened, but the CPU crapped out and had to change the motherboard too.
I currently have 83 iLok plugins and my experience would have been MUCH worse without the dongle.

Talking about iLok overall... I'm neither pro or against it.
Plenty of plugins I really like require it, and it doesn't bother me that much.

Lately (read: past 10 years) worked great.

Using v3 now, updated last year as I had reached the limit of v2, started with V1 many, many years ago.

Sold all Ilok plugins. And happy without Ilok honestly...

I love it. I've said it before. If you have hundreds of plugins and your entire computer needs to be reset, it's much easier to get back up and running without having to enter hundreds of serial numbers etc.

No Ilok – no problems.

Been using it for prob 15 years at this point and never had a negative. Only time I ever had to do anything other than plug it in was when my hard drive crashed and I lost everything. Ilok at that point became a positive as it helped me get back up and running much more efficiently than if I had to re-authorize a hundred plugins

In all honesty, I hate the idea of iLok, but I've yet to really have a problem with it. I was pissed when I had to buy a new one because they phased out the old model, but that's about it.

Pretty invisible on my system, never had a problem with it.

I’ve had 2 glitches since May, 2024. Logic templates with iLok plugins wouldn’t boot. Thankfully, these outages were short, but drove me nuts the first time. Otherwise, clear sailing.
