exciting news !

+1, absynth is my #1 pick for "what to resurrect from the old ?"

+1, i was about to abandon NI completly.

Absynth won´t change that to 100%, though. I might not update NI Komplete again just cause of Absynth.
NI has to show "me" more "understanding for the Market and Musicians" than just that. YMMV
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.

Why doubt? The same thing happened in every major update of Absynth before. Old patches sound the same as they used to. Absynth 6 builds upon Absynth 5, it's not a from-scratch thing.

Because you can load Absynth 1 presets in Absynth 5. Why wouldn't you be able to load older presets in Absynth 6? It would make no sense.
Without the benefit of insider information...

At some point most code becomes easier to rewrite than rehabilitate. It has been implied that Absynth had a lot of tech debt and was not simple to update. So quite a reasonable possibility that a compatibility-breaking "spiritual successor" might emerge.

That would be Absynth X not Absynth 6 though.

I hope they ditch the three diamonds parameter adjustment though. Maybe something more like the Coarse/Fine adjustment like in Plasmonic would be better.

How will we obtain it. Is it a paid upgrade? If I upgrade my Collectors from v14 to v15 will it be included, or better still is it a free upgrade?

It won't be in Collectors 15 as that is already product complete - I guess maybe Komplete 16 (not sure if regular or Coll)?

Well, I have Absynth 5 in v14, would that make a difference?

Not entirely true hah! Brian fixed a bug with some parameters in between v1 and v2 that caused some sounds to not work right until they were adjusted to the new settings.. One in particular I brought to his attention (and he still remembers it hehe) was the preset 'Hendrix In The Manifold'. v2 "ruined" it and something had to be adjusted to get it back to where it was in v1 because of his fixes.

It would be nice if they could have done it with the ni pro 53.. all this talk about we retired a product because we could not upgrade the security and activation because... why? Heck if they can keep absynth going and update it then they can do it with all the other legacy plugs even service center to keep the legacy plugs alive..

There's really nothing else like Absynth's "everything is a MSEG" workflow. A bit cumbersome for bread-and-butter patches, but so good for rhythmic stuff, pads and other drones.
MSoundfactory is kind of like this.

This is pretty exciting news, though I was hoping they'd be working on a Massive X update that responds to the polyphonic aftertouch that their controllers send.

Absynth 6 before GTA 6. What a time to live in.
Maybe in a parallel universe there’ll also be a Reaktor 7

wonder if this will be absynth 5 updated or something completely rebuild with high fidelity incorporating existing solutions from rhizomatic (Synestia and Plasmonic)
