Absynth was neglected for years, and in the meantime several other synths were released, and many of those were continuously improved.
So when Absynth6 will be released , i will be able to layer Zebra3 and Omni3 + all my other synths in Unify2. Why the hell would i need Absynth6 anymore?
Maybe you don't but it seems awfully silly to say this before we have any details.

Maybe dune_race is just trying to beat the addiction we all have...!

You mean like they did with Kontakt 7?

I'm pessimistic about this, but we'll see.

lol right?

Or naming "Kontakt Player" the free version of Kontakt. So regular Kontakt isn't a "player?" Why not name it something logical like "Kontakt Free" or "Kontakt Lite?"

The full Kontakt is more than just a player, the naming here make sense imo.

This is true. With full Kontakt you can go in and edit wav files and do all kinds of things you can't do with the player. Plus, there are tons of synths and other things that don't work with the player. Way too many to mention.

They're both players, so naming one "Player" and the other not IMO made no sense. The fact that Kontakt can do other things doesn't change that, but whatever

The thing is, the difference between player and full is less confusing than saying Kontakt Lite or whatever other thing you want to call it.

But the most important thing is this, which you seem to be forgetting or just ignoring. Every 3rd party developer who creates products for Kontakt has one of two things on their site.

"Works with Free Kontakt Player"

or

"Requires full Kontakt version"

To change what we are already used to would force every third party developer to change the wording on their sites.
Forget about users wondering "Do I have Kontakt Lite or the full version?" "What's the difference?"

What's done is done and nobody is going to change naming convention just because some people think Kontakt Player is a stupid name.

Speaking of stupid. Stupid me for even arguing about something so inane.

A new version of Absynth = some NI crap. You know what comes after such release? Many bugs. So I rather use stable softwares, whose development period do not have such gaps. And thanks to NI "synth strategy" I got rid of NI synths, and started to use stuff from smaller developers.

I mean, I don't really like NI that much either and I'm trying to keep a negative attitude so I can save some cash but who am I kidding... This is an insta-buy for me. Bring on the bugs! :hyper:

Yet you feel the need to be here bitching about it. Which frankly is f**ked up.

Had Komplete 2 on review, then bought 6, 9 and 14. It'll be a long while until I upgrade again. There are some things I would like in 15, but it's not worth even what you get with the 50% off, I agree. My problem is I own Collectors Edition, so it's brutally more expensive for their upgrades. $500? No thanks. I already paid $599 for the upgrade 2 years ago now. It's got to have a substantial amount of content to make it worth it, and that's at 50% off at $249. I might consider around Komplete 18 at this point, maybe? I bought Absynth 2 back in the day. It be nice to have again, but I got plenty of content to keep me busy. I only went Collectors Edition because I wanted the orchestral content. From 9 to 14 was a huge amount of good content. But now they are throwing in like Izotope stuff, which I already own, so it doesn't make it a better deal, it just makes it a waste of money. No additional VST's anymore? It's all sample content. That's great for some things, but NI used to innovate and come out with great products. Now it's mostly sample libraries, and effects that I already have covered in other products, again, having to pay extra for them in the bundles... Annoying.

Well Brian Clevinger, the developer of absynth, released some products since then and they have not been buggy at all so why not assume it will be as much a result of the main developer behind it?

I read their news there. It could be something else entirely.

I did like that it mentioned improvements of Access though. Not sure I trust them yet, but the spiel is interesting.
