I cannot see how either of these "plans" survive. Sub will be dead for sure - but that is kinda given considering the lack of value being delivered. Heard from a few users that are pretty sure they have seen a single thing new in their sub for months now. Makes no sense to keep doing that.andypryce wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 3:14 pm Seems like subscription no more, I wonder if perpetuals still will be limited to 12 months or if they are completely going back to the way it was pre sub.
And perpetual? If Presonus insists on keeping this odd "Annual Updates" plan - which now has the same stink to me as as the much hated Waves Update Plan - I think that too is going to fail.
Users want to be able to make up their own minds. For any of us who have been with Presonus like forever - this means upgrading when a new "major" version drops and then getting ALL the updates that come with it - until the next major drops - just like the old days.
I cannot see myself "paying" for Annual Updates any more - there is simply no way I can "front" development over there if I do not know what I am paying for. Or even worse - if what I AM paying for - is of little to no interest to me.
Bottom line - if Presonus needs constantly cash flow (which I get) - someone over there serious miscalculated the user base and what they are willing to pay for.
More than likely the Fender suits simply waved their hands and thought these "programs" would natually be a cash cow for our "built in" loyalty to S1 while appeasing shareholders at the same time.
But what they forgot is how $149.00 bucks was the total price for an entire cycle in the old days.
As a S1 user since 2011 - for the first time ever - I type this as an actual non-paying customer of Presonus. Sad as that is to believe - this a great example of the nature of the Annual Update Plan (specifcally)
Now that I am free and clear of any obligation - while Presonus fumbles around trying to deliver some value - my eyes/ears are (oddly) starting to wander to see what else is going on.
This is how great products start to die.
