I think it's amusing to see just how stubborn people are about their choice of OS, how willing they are to cut off their noses to spite their faces.

Does it ship with 1 factory bank (128 presets) or are there more presets included?

Probably because it doesn't make much sense to switch from the OS you prefer for 1 or 2 audio plugins, especially when there are alternatives to them.BONES wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 10:09 pm I think it's amusing to see just how stubborn people are about their choice of OS, how willing they are to cut off their noses to spite their faces.

That's why the best OS is the one that supports all the things you want to use. At the end of the day, OSes are all very similar, it's a nonsense to suggest one has any actual advantage over another. The exception I'd make is that if you need to aggregate multiple I/O devices, then macOS makes more sense than Windows but that's surely the realm of big studios, not bedroom producers.

For now yes, but since it can directly import JP presets, you have thousands of sounds available for it alreadyBenjamin923 wrote: Sat Nov 29, 2025 4:15 am Does it ship with 1 factory bank (128 presets) or are there more presets included?

My Mac suits me well. There’s maybe one plugin I’d like to be able to use that I can’t and it’s this one.
So it’s good to hear Adam will look into it

Windows doesn’t support Logic Pro. I’d say that preference for OS and DAW supersedes a few plugins available to a specific OS.BONES wrote: Sat Nov 29, 2025 5:11 am That's why the best OS is the one that supports all the things you want to use. Bottom line is that user experience is a thing, and many people’s user experience on Mac is far more positive and hassle free than Windows.
Windows definitely does support far more malware and viruses. I haven’t needed to use anti virus software for 20 years now and have had zero issues. Can’t say the same for Windows. No way I’d ever switch back to Windows regardless of any software that’s exclusive to it.

I picked it up because of my excellent experience with Viper. I have faith this will be great.adamszabo wrote: Sat Nov 29, 2025 8:58 amFor now yes, but since it can directly import JP presets, you have thousands of sounds available for it alreadyBenjamin923 wrote: Sat Nov 29, 2025 4:15 am Does it ship with 1 factory bank (128 presets) or are there more presets included?![]()

Congrats on the release of Airwave, Adam! It sounds fantastic - and the UI is gorgeous!
[To me, it is the most beautiful of all JP80x0 emulations I am aware of (including the upcoming TUS emu).]
Regarding the next update, you write "in the next update (after my rest) I will make it so that you can click on the oscillator names directly instead of having to cycle though it with the button."
Does that mean that the user will have both options - cycling through all the waves using the button AND clicking on the wave directly? I actually like the button (gives me that nostalgic feeling of operating some hardware.) And I fear that taking away the button might make the GUI a little worse.
Does the release of Airwave now mean that JP6K has become redundant and will be abandoned, or will it stay and be maintained? If so, is there hope that there could be a VST3 version - or is that technically not possible?
Keep up the good work, you have done a super job here! Utmost respect!

Absolutely, which is precisely why Apple bought eMagic 20-odd years ago. If I'd been a Logic user back then, I'd have turned my back on it on principle. Apple tried the same stunt in the VFX industry with Shake, thinking they could use it to get all the big VFX houses to start using Macs but it backfired and they lost all their users. That was around the time my attitude towards Apple changed drastically. You can't treat customers like that, except you can if you're Apple because people are blind to the coercive control Apple exercises over them.djanthonyw wrote: Sat Nov 29, 2025 1:32 pmWindows doesn’t support Logic Pro. Not mine and I have used both far more intensely than 99% of people. Ultimately they are just different flavours of the same thing. I lost interest in Linux when it started to go the same way. I even used IBM's OS/2 for a while so I wouldn't have to deal with Windows or Mac OS (but that was a very long time ago, in a different Century). In the end, it's 99.9% about what you are used to, not which is better. Obviously that's completely valid but Apple does things that no Windows user in their right mind would put up with, which makes it pretty much impossible to trust them not to f**k you over whenever it suits them. e.g. Quicktime is an Apple thing but support for .mov files on Windows is way better than it is on Mac, because Apple decided it was too much effort to continue to support all the legacy codecs , so one day the Terabytes of stock videos we had at work stopped working on Mac.Bottom line is that user experience is a thing, and many people’s user experience on Mac is far more positive and hassle free than Windows.
And if you're a moron, that might be a legitimate concern.Windows definitely does support far more malware and viruses.
I've never in my life used any anti-virus software and I've never had the slightest problem, either (because I'm not a moron). That argument is just complete nonsense (unless you're talking about morons, of course). To explain, in the early days of 3D animation, when ray-traced shadows would bring your system to its knees, you needed every CPU cycle you could get your hands on. Wasting even one cycle or 1kb of RAM on anti-virus software was a non-starter, so I never used any. I never had a problem and when CPUs got to the point where I probably could have used anti-virus if I'd wanted to, I'd long ago stopped worrying about it. Common sense is your best defence.I haven’t needed to use anti virus software for 20 years now and have had zero issues.
Anyway, suffice to say you're missing out on something a bit special in this case and, for the record, something similarly special, Korg's ARP Odyssey, was the reason we moved from 32 bit Windows to 64 bit (a decision I still feel forced into and am largely unhappy about).

It has nothing to do with being a moron. I've experienced malware on Windows when I used to use it and I was well experienced at the time building my own PCs. I won't be missing out on anything because I'll be using JE-8086 which is the actual JP8K.BONES wrote: Sun Nov 30, 2025 12:20 amAbsolutely, which is precisely why Apple bought eMagic 20-odd years ago. After spending a few days with Airwave, I have to say that even though I wasn't too impressed initially, the more I've used it, the more I've grown to like it. While I do think JUP-8000V is pleasant sounding, Airwave's got a huge edge due to the layering. I'm able to get sounds out of it that I just can't with the 8000V. I'll play with it a bit more, but I think I'll end up choosing Airwave over the other JP8X offerings. The only big request I'd have is a more in-depth built in EQ, could be a simple 3 band like what Spire's got. Smaller requests would be a patch browser and parameter lock.

There's a patch browser.
Or do you mean something specific?
