It's a "chorder" with built in synth and multi-sampled instruments.
Before you ask - yes, they are working on MIDI Out for an update
Looks pretty cool for the $40 intro price.
No demo but you can request a refund if you don't like it.

Remember Chordz (vst2 32 bit iirc)?
https://codefn42.com/chordz/index.html
Similar idea but it only outputs midi, so you can use your synth/rompler of choice.

Could not resist, and so far all things mentioned are right, my impressions so far:
- the audio to midi is really bad so far (more alpha then beta if at all):
3 of 6 recognized (I did not even look which ones) and this is really not the most complicated progression out there....
- no midi out is really a no go so I am glad to hear that they are on it
The idea itself is really great and unique and the combination of chord progressions/strums, arps.../sounds/effects, modulations is really combined in an easy to use way even if it takes a little to get used to it but thats simply cause of all the available options.
5 Expansions sounds a little more then it is in reality but I am sure more to come.
Summary: really fun to play around with, if midi out will be released this could be a top music production UNIT
EDIT: what I forget to mention: much better then the competitors I know and see so far like Sugarbytes Dialekt where you need days and support to even get into it, UVIs Mosaiq or the NI stuff out there in this direction, it is really a well thought and well implemented idea you can instantly use and have fun with

I just got this reply from Future Audio Workshop support to my question "Can you tell me in your own words what makes Notes a uniqe chord generation plugin? There are so many chord generators like Scaler, Chordjam etc. This is their reply:
"Instead of giving you a fixed set of pre-generated chords or AI generated chords, Notes lets you start from hundreds of curated chord progressions each with unique voicings and play styles. These don’t play as simple block chords. They were performed by real musicians specifically for Notes, and include timing and velocity variation, so they sound totally different than your typical chord generator.
From there, you can play these chords on the white keys and use the black Transformer keys to change voicings, rhythm, feel, and more in real time and record everything straight into your DAW.
You can also create your own chord progressions from scratch in two very cool ways. In The Lab, you can drag and drop any loop, audio, or MIDI file — Notes will detect the chords and map them on to the white keys so you can play them, then apply any play styles and transformers to those as well.
You can also type in your own chords and apply different voicing styles to them, apply play styles, etc.
We have a 30-day no-hassle return policy, so you’re very welcome to try Notes out. If it doesn’t work the way you want, just send us a message here and we’ll issue a refund. We’re also actively looking for feedback and feature requests, so if you have ideas or suggestions for features please post them on our forum."
30-day no-hassle return policy sounds nice:)

Hey Tatanka,
Just on the chord detection, is it possible that you had an early beta? We're currently getting 90% to 100% on complex loops with drums etc...Also if you drop a file, there are two midi files created next to it. One is the notes we find and a second the chord. If you have time and are not using the pre-release beta would be great to get the three files so we can check whats going on....so the original audio, the chords midi and found notes midi.
Outside of that, great that your liking notes so far...midi out is coming this week so keep and eye on that update when it comes out
Thanks again,
Gavin.

interesting plugin, some questions:
1. how long is the introductory sale?
2. so if i put a song in there and it analyzes the chord, do i get unique/analyzed chord progressions?
thx

1. Introductory sale will be available into the new year.
2.Yes, exactly that.
The workflow is...say you have a full complex loop from Splice and you want to add your piano part on another track. You drop the loop into Notes, it detects the chords and you then play them inside Notes...

Can you talk a bit about how you developed the chord detection, I assume it's a neural network? Also, I have to ask the obligatory, it's not just a wrapper on Basic Pitch https://github.com/spotify/basic-pitch correct?

I will have a deeper look into it an then sent you the files. To be clear: I dropped a MIDI chord progression on it with the chords shown above. And when I realized it only get 3 chords (notes from 1 to 3 from 7 possible highlighted at the bottom) that was it for me. I then made the chords inside Notes manually by typing the chord names, that works, but of course the other way would be much easier.GavinFAW wrote: Mon Dec 01, 2025 12:32 am Hey Tatanka,
