Cool. It's a cross between Electronica, Experimental, Industrial, Prog and New Age. It's certainly not dull. Enjoyed the listen. But I always liked this kind of stuff.

I tested this out just for the hell of it. It's still processing a 6 minute song but so far its come up with 11 different genres. The AI engine can't wrap its head around the fact that it's simply prog rock because prog rock, as you know, is a mish mash of a lot of different things.
See, nobody would listen to this song and say it's...
Electronic
Funk/Soul
Rock
Stage & Screen
Non Music
World
Pop
Jass
Classical
Hip Hop
Blues
Latin
They'd hear it and say "That's prog rock."
Ultimately, for complex music, this AI is pretty useless.

Calling it Prog suggests that people will expect ELP (or worse Rush) but this is not that specific brand. It is however a sprawling thing that isn't Rock & Roll kind of Rock. Nor is it Jazz. It is simply music. If I had a record store I would file alongside acts people generally see in that space, like Pete Bardens' "Seen One Earth", Patrick Moraz solo records. Even Mark Isham, who is generally considered New Age.

Thank you. I was going to give it a try, but it looks like wagtunes beat me to it!

Interesting idea for a website. I wonder what it scans for in the file. It's probably not a good career move for me to create music that's so vague. I don't ever anticipate doing this for a living, though. I was a musician for most of my adult life. Mostly popular music. My last band was a Fleetwood Mac tribute. I didn't really like the music, but really enjoyed playing for an audience. I had absolutely no input regarding the material. Now I have complete and total control! If it's terrible, it's all my fault. This weekend I posted track #359. All modesty aside, I think I have a few good ones in there. I try to do something different every time. Thanks for listening. Hope your weather is better than here in Chicago. Have a great week!wagtunes wrote: Sun Nov 30, 2025 10:16 pmI tested this out just for the hell of it. I tag all my music as Paulieworld. Probably not a great idea. I actually like Rush (except for Geddy Lee's voice). I saw ELP a few times and they always put on a great show. One time Keith Emerson played a grand piano spinning upside down above the stage. That took some serious balls!Benedict wrote: Sun Nov 30, 2025 11:04 pm Calling it Prog suggests that people will expect ELP (or worse Rush) but this is not that specific brand. Thanks for comparing me with those guys. It's quite an honor. I was a big fan of Camel and have several of their albums. Unfortunately, I no longer have a turntable and can't justify buying one. I don't listen to much music anymore, just my own and what I hear on these forums. I took a 16 year hiatus from all music in 2004 and lost track of what was happening until 2020. My wife told me about people making music with these iPads. Because of arthritis I wasn't able to play golf or bowl, so I decided to take this up as a hobby. It's been very enjoyable. I've made a number of new friends, albeit virtual. Thanks for listening and commenting. I love chatting with you guys. Have a great week!

With complex creations, one can of course always ask about the genre.
But is that always useful?
Your "Left Behind" sounds more like a movie soundtrack, depicting an
event that transports you to another world. Perhaps it's all connected
to "Left Behind".
We can definitely see the fun and creativity involved. And that's what
really matters to me: Brilliantly conceived - with many melodic elements,
with a fragilely played violin. The song truly transports you to another
world. Brilliantly done!

Thank you for the encouraging words! I had completely forgotten about the "Left Behind" series and was thinking more about a couple of Twilight Zone episodes. This piece actually uses several bits from other projects. That's probably why it sounds a bit disjunct. The fun part was trying to get them to work together. When I finish something, I often think I've run out of ideas. This will be my last... this time for sure. This one was #359 and commentary like yours make we want to move on to #360. Have a great week!enroe wrote: Wed Dec 03, 2025 7:14 am With complex creations, one can of course always ask about the genre.
