Free multisampled conga in sfz format

That's precisely the situation I'm talking about, 32-bit floating point, as with sfz, sfz+, and any AU, VSTi, or DXi plugin instrument. If it was 16-bit hardware all the way, the issues would be different. Fortunately, I don't think ANYTHING is 16-bit all the way these days. Many synths are probably use 24-bit DSPs, where it's almost the same as 32-bit float.

Whoa! I just made the amp_velcurve change that you suggested and it made a world of difference. For the longest time I couldn't figure out why the dynamic range of my conga sounded so drastic. I also trimmed the beginnings of the samples, as per Jeff's suggestion. I'll try out my latest version at my band rehearsal on Monday. If all goes well, I'll upload it to my website next week. If anyone has any other programming or editing suggestions for the current sample set, drop me a line. Sorry, haven't been able to hook up with Brad to record his other hand or other drum
