I play the Speaker.

When I tell people I make music they often ask me what instrument I play. I came to realize that the only strument I actually play, is the speaker.

Now I do have a midi controller and several synthesizers. a computer, a whole DJ setup with a state of the art mixer, and of course microphones.

But here is one object that I simply cannot make music without, and that is a speaker. Now this speaker could come in the shape of a headset or earbuds. Or heck even the Neurophone. But ultimately, it's the speaker that I play.

Now I posted this in Instruments because it is in fact the most relevant IMO. The Speaker is the primary instrument I play, regardless of the style I play it by. I thought it food for thought for all who read it.

Do you hit the speaker in a percussive manner? No.
Do you play the speaker with your fingers like you would a piano or saxophone? No.
Do you strum or finger pick the speaker? No.
Do you blow the speaker? I sure hope not.

Ah! That explains why I can't make music with my acoustic guitar. Thanks for the info.

I also play "the speaker" but in a more literal sense.
