windows now stopping me setting sample rate away from 44.1

I have had this before and cant remember how to fix it - using win11
I set my interface to 48kHz and less than a second later it switches back to 44.1kHz

How can I fix this. Windows has sound settings but all of those are for 44.1, so there is no help from Windows I can find

Did you try starting a daw and have ASIO run 48 kHz?
- usually it's about drivers interface allow/support
If windows do DirectMusic, WDM or whatever - daw can use others to run other sample rate.

Try turn off Windows Sounds as a startm if any event goes off it may play 44k something.
If you have both onboard audio and external interface enabled in computer, turn off onboard audio in bios.

Currently running an RME interface it is fixed at 48k and there are settings in windows for 48k too
- if I want to play in windows player something, and daw in another

As I discovered when either windows player or daw screams unable to set samplerate or similar, your using the same drivers.
- if one is set to exclusive use so not concurrently using same driver
- you use another driver for windows stuff

You find no way to lock in driver for interface itself?

When interface is automatic strange things can happend. If windows plays anything, like windows sounds, interface could change sample rate, and when I started transport in daw again it ran in the wrong speed, really weird.

thanks I uninstalled and reinstalled and things are working now. Windows is ubiquitous and worth zillions but is mediocre beyond all forgiveness. To be fair, WIndows is getting on a bit and struggles with change, poor thing.
