Lie or truth?

When we're on internet platforms (Facebook, etc.), we often
come across the most original and perhaps absurd stories and
claims. But are they true? That's what our song "Fake or Truth"
is about: Fake or Truth.

Note: This requires clicking the grey "play"-button.

In this song we brought violin, cello and double bass to life and
turned it into a rock song. To some extent, such a composition is
a battle between strings and guitar - but I think we've struck a good
balance. 🎻 🎸

Enjoy! 🚶

Love it! What string libraries did you use for this? Guitar, real or virtual? If virtual, what library?

Very well done. Really enjoyed listening to this.

We recorded the string parts together with the local music
school. It's so time-consuming that we probably won't do
it very often. Microphones: AGK C1000S, MD27 and a few
others. So this is clearly our "strings song"!

enroe you are a TRUE punk rocker. The instrumentation works great in this. I enjoyed it very much.
When the data is corrupt in the Desert of the Real, Beyond the Last Thought, where intuition reigns, is the solace that will embolden and strengthen the soul, giving hope once more to this age of failing technique. eassae.com

Real musicians use real instruments.

Really enjoyed that! When I was in college (a long time ago) one of my favorite groups was Supertramp. To my ears, this has a definite Supertramp vibe. That’s a good thing. They did very well for themselves, made some fame and fortune, and left the public eye on top, with people wanting more.

The recording session sounds like it was fun. 30+ years ago, we had a small 4-track studio where we recorded live instruments. We never had strings, but we played with a small horn section. It was a blast! Nowadays, studios look like computer stores with video screens everywhere. Back in the day, we would hang baffles and set up microphones. When we got a good take, it was very satisfying.

After a 16 year hiatus from all music, my wife told me about these iPads and how people were making decent recordings with them. My former band mates had all moved away, or died, so I bought one and got back into it. It’s not as good as playing in a band for a live audience, but it’s really fun.

Great song. Keep on making them.

enroe,
Thank you for reviewing my song! Now your song: strings and guitar sounds nice! Good 'Bowling For Soup' vocals. Nice melodies and an interesting song ending. Very good song and recording!

Haha, definitely!

I like it when genres are dissected and instrumentation and
arrangements from diverse origins are considered and brought
together.

Here, as described above, it is more of a social project: many
cello and violin recordings with the children of the music school -
but to extract one song (or later even several) from all of them in
the end.

It takes a while to find a common thread, i.e., a song. In this
case, it's even a meaningful, almost political song: "Fake or
Truth".

Thank you, eassae!

Well, things repeat themselves:

With "normal" rock songs, I've noticed: It's faster and more
dynamic to just grab a guitar instead of programming
yourself to death in some guitar library.

It's a similar story with the strings: Playing a phrase directly
– with violin and microphone – is simply more direct and
faster.

Nothing against using large libraries - but often it's simply
faster using the physical instrument.

This song features a very well-chosen mix of instruments. I liked the way the violin, lead guitar, and the vocals contrasted and complemented each other. They provided a "thread" that wove the song together. Your previous song featured a trumpet, which also helped to give that song a very comfortable and natural sound.

Lyrically, this is an interesting concept, especially here in the UK, where fake news seems to have recently taken a place in the centre of the media stage, for a variety of reasons.

Another lovely piece of songwriting, aided by a fine arrangement and production.

Good work :)

cool track, nice and insteresting.

should we know something? dAre you planning to achieve world domination? :hyper:

Wonderful song! The strings sound great and are integrated perfectly in the arrangement.

The mix is excellent and it holds up to repeated listenings. The dynamic range is just right. The track breathes well without feeling over-compressed.

The lyrics are timely and on point. My remote control implant started vibrating during the chorus so I think Bill Gates likes the song too. :ud:

The vocals can be hard to understand (not an issue since you provided the lyrics) and sometimes have an artificial, processed quality probably due to the pitch correction.

Great job overall!

Yes, exactly! :D

But I respect every musician — whether they play instruments
like we do, or have someone else play them and record with
microphones. Or whether they play a lot of things on a
keyboard. Or — which apparently also happens — whether
they enter notes using an editor.

Everyone is a musician, everyone is highly creative. What isn't
creative, where the line is drawn, is when someone enters a
lyric prompt — and then a whole song emerges from it in just a
few moments.

As far as I can tell, all KVR members here are musicians - and
the variety of styles and types of production is particularly rich.

Thank you, nirm123!

Sorry, the answer is long overdue.

Yes - Supertramp already stood out in the 70s with their
extremely groovy electric piano sound. You could
even say: Supertramp are the electric piano band!

Recording the strings the "old way" with microphones is,
of course, time-consuming. One could also say that it's
almost more of a social project than a music recording.
But that's precisely what makes it special.

We can well understand if musicians or studios prefer to
use sound libraries or VSTis in order to be faster. Or the
band members are unfortunately dead – there are no
musicians to be found "on the street" – and you still want
to realize your musical visions. Then definitely: libraries
or VST instruments! Creative original music can be realized
in many different ways.

Thank you Pauliwood - for your feedback and your
thoughts!
