I don't share your discomfort with it at all, but that's probably because I use a touch screen with it. Having a slow and fast section makes much more sense with a touch screen. It also works pretty well with a mouse wheel.![]()
One thing though, the decision to reverse effectively the slow and fast sections depending on whether horizontal or vertical slows pretty much everyone down at first, not the best choice.
I don't share your confidence with Absynth 5 in Rosetta, I've had all kinds of GUI issues with it, and at some point in the not too distant future Rosetta is officially gone, and along with it, Absynth 5. Plus like someone mentioned anything is better than the 2-3 diamond "sliders" in Absynth 5.
I'm guessing it will make more sense than either the faders in Plasmonic or the diamonds in Absynth 5, only a couple days to go.
Yeah Absynth 5 is definitely showing it's age in UI terms but at least it doesn't literally cause pain and damage to your hand, unlike Plasmonic. It's the only piece of software that has caused me physical discomfort (well actually, some very badly rendered pseudo 3D GUI's can cause nausia so there's that too).
If Absynth 6 sucks and is a downgrade then I'll dedicate a "set in stone" system for Absynth 5. Very easy to do now that Apple sold so many M1 chip based systems.. and then there's always windows PCs as a possibility. I don't see it being difficult to have access to Absynth 5 for the next 20 years or so.
Let's hope Absynth 6 isn't a downgrade though.
