That's a really good point: I need to think about workflow.

I think my plan is to load it with "ingredients" in advance, then work on the "recipe" while I'm commuting. Connecting things while I'm travelling seems like a hassle; I'm imagining a single device on my lap, plus headphones; nothing else.
EP-133 is another option, but it’s not my favorite workflow and I’ve left it sitting in a box that I’ll likely sell off at some point.
I wondered about the EP-133. It looks supercool - TE are clearly in love with design - but it doesn't look "road worthy" to me(?) (I could be wrong, obviously).

Another really good point about workflow :tu:

I'm assuming I'd export stems, then import them into a DAW for additional processing, playing live stuff over the top etc. (So probably not using it as a MIDI slave).
(which shouldn't be a problem on a bus)
:D

Aye!

Pity

Wow, that's quite a difference! It pays to shop around, clearly…

I wouldn’t discount the fun of getting your own samples. You say this is for a bus ride? For years I’ve thought to get a sample of a bus’ brakes squealing. I have a Tascam DR-40 and it’s a great, pocket sized recorder (phone recorders usually don’t have a level meter).
Random, incidental noises can make the best samples.

OP-Z. Love mine.

Mk I, in my case.

One thing that could make PO-33 work really well is adding a Rode AI-Micro. The “AI” is for audio interface, and it’s super portable.

With the Rode AI you can back up the PO-33 to a mobile device, as well as record the output, and then just start fresh with new samples.

I have the Rode AI and I got it used for $45 which was the right price for my needs. I have the PO-33 too, but I haven’t used it as much lately, but I have tons of samplers and I don’t have as many portability needs right now.

It's funny you should say this, because I've been thinking for a while about maybe incorporating field recordings and found sounds. I've never really tried, frankly, but I have an H4n which I've used for live recordings :)

Another possibility! Hmmm…

I was thinking a lot about really transportable options and end up always with the most universal solution I own already. Its my iPad Mini…
Flexible as hell and filled with tons of synths, samplers, DAWs and other toys. Alone Bordelands is worth to get into that…

I have a very strange attachment to Sonicware smpltrek. Maybe because I spent a good time in Japan. The sad thing is that after all the shipping and conversion it gets more expensive than it has to... I had so many sonicware boxes, many I bought in Japan... oh the good times!
