I tried zebralette 3 free and it a messy plugin to play with, I would not purchase the full version !!! Each time I try it, I'm so frustrated, that I close my daw and think to myself, again one hour lost with this frustrating thing ! I watched several vids on YouTube but none of them helped me to understand what are those guides, morph, used for ? The manual is not helpful too !

Do you use Wavetables? It's a different technology, but the basic idea is the same--you evolve your oscillator based on how you morph the sound through the your guides.Boudin wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 4:16 pm I tried zebralette 3 free and it a messy plugin to play with, I would not purchase the full version !!! Putting my u-he fanboyism aside, I can understand how Zebralette 3 would come off as a bit esoteric. I like it, but I look forward to the full release of Z3 so I can work in a more comfortable manner for me with more routing options.Boudin wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 4:16 pm I tried zebralette 3 free and it a messy plugin to play with, I would not purchase the full version !!! For the record, I never liked Zebralette but I love Zebra. They are NOT the same thing. I'm sure Zebra 3 will be awesome,

I hate signatures too.

Look, it is not for everyone, and that is absolutely okay. Not everyone has the time, patience or ambition to learn such a vast array of tools.Boudin wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 4:16 pm I tried zebralette 3 free and it a messy plugin to play with, I would not purchase the full version !!! One of the reasons Zebralette 3 exists is to give people a free entrance into some of the more challenging concepts of Zebra 3. But also, if even this very focussed plug-in doesn't work for them, it's pretty safe to say that Zebra 3 isn't for them, either.
That said, if people don't open the large editors, they can still work in Zebralette 3 pretty much the same way they could in Zebralette 2, but more consistently and more precisely.

Don't sell Zebra 3 so short. Zebra 2 has an incredibly large library of excellent presets both included, and third-party. I don't see myself as learning the tools and becoming some kind of waveform drawing expert, but I can definitely take existing waveforms and do stuff with them in Z2. I imagine Z3 will be that but better.Urs wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 6:18 pmLook, it is not for everyone, and that is absolutely okay. Not everyone needs to 100% nerd out to enjoy Zebra.

Yeah, also true.
And as I keep saying, we just need 10 people who embrace this stuff and do incredible things with those oscillators.

I have the suspicion that Zebra 3 will actually be easier to use than Zebralette 3. Yes, it can do much more, but just by having filters it already much easier to create patches the traditional way, without having to get into the OscFX concept.
What would also probably greatly simplify things is if for OSC it's possible to just browse and select the curves and load them, like you would do it with wavetable editors. Then it's just a matter of picking an OSC curveset that gives you the basic sound or curve transition and then adding filter, env, lfo like you would do with any other typical substractive synth.

That makes me wonder actually, will there be separate presets for curves and presets for settings of the entire oscillator? Or perhaps not individual curves but curve sets? It's a tricky choice...

Presets for whole curve sets, definitely. But I don't think we've done it yet, so it's currently only possible to save the Osc settings as a whole.NAD wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 7:29 pm That makes me wonder actually, will there be separate presets for curves and presets for settings of the entire oscillator? But one can anyhow copy and paste curves between oscillators and instances, so I guess it wasn't really necessary yet to do specific presets...

isn't there somewhere a video explaining in detail the purpose if the filter curve and curve parameter and at first ! I'm sure I'm not the only one which hasn't catched the concept !Urs wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 6:18 pmLook, it is not for everyone, and that is absolutely okay. I have only done rough overviews so far. We'll spend the next few years covering things in depth.Boudin wrote: Sat Dec 06, 2025 1:35 pm isn't there somewhere a video explaining in detail the purpose if the filter curve and curve parameter and at first !
