For me much of it is in the envelopes. There is still no other synth whose envelopes feels the same to work with. And there lies a lot of the secret sauce imho.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 4:26 pmYeah Absynth is not really ahead of the competition any more like the old days. Hybrid synthesis including granular, wavetable and fm, isn't really uncommon now. Alchemy indeed was level up conceptually and in terms of (re-) synthesis methods.BBFG# wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 4:20 pm It's easier for me to take a pass now.
I remember asking years ago how Absynth (A5) compared to Alchemy 1 and many referred to Alchemy1 as being like Absynth on steroids. This (A6) sounds like it's on premarin.
If I'm totally honest, I also lost interest in multi-breakpoint rhythmic envelopes in synths, as I found DAW automation like Ableton's clip envelopes to be more useful since they aren't baked into a patch but variable between clips. Absynth envelopes are like full song in a patch type things.
But none of this changes that I'm still happy to have it back (not sure I would have upgraded Komplete otherwise), and it does have it's own sound, so will still fit nicely among an arsenal of synths. Plus, it's a software vintage classic!

I am liking it for the most part, but wish the macros could be assigned globally to the CC of my choice, instead of per preset. That is very time consuming to override the mapping every time.

Hey, I'm not proud. I'll take free stuff. LOL. Thanks.Touch The Universe wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 4:00 pmI've made some too, how about another one for free. Or anyone else who happens to stumble across this![]()

I'm listening to some demos and I wonder if some of these sounds can be reproduce by other synths, like from Dawsome?

Insto-buy for me. A formative synth for me, and I wouldn't be in music tech if it wasn't for Absynth. I always loved it.

I'm delighted, most of all, for Brian. It was clear from the beginning Absynth was a labor of love. That we got to share in that was the icing on the cake.
I'm installing v6 as I type this. The Boffins from Berlin are back.

We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

Some of them, sure. But some are so complex, both in sonic variation and in modulation, take "Alien Trumpet Drones" from Absynth 5 or "Seraph Dust" from Absynth 6, that it can take days and weeks until you get there. If at all.xx JPRacer xx wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 4:52 pm I'm listening to some demos and I wonder if some of these sounds can be reproduce by other synths, like from Dawsome?

I was super happy to hear that you contributed content to this thing. Just be warned, everyone - sometime in 2024 I brushed the middle C key on a Porphyra patch and it's still decaying to this day.

SLiC wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 12:49 pm Most people I suspect will get it as part of a Komplete upgrade which is nice, a change from a bunch of sound packs and for me very welcome. I certainly wont buy it stand alone, The Komplete upgrades every few years in BF sales are the way to go!
Except that it's not part of Komplete, and even Absynth 5 has disappeared from it too.
Is it now InKomplete?

Seems that the answer is no! That would be so cool - missed opportunity for the launch as all of us nerds would have gotten hyped for oscillator interactionsffx wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 3:57 pm Can you combine osc signals together, e.g. with ringmod, sync, both, or invert one, etc?
That said, now that NI is investing in really growing its flagship synths again maybe they'll explore it for an update

The folders/banks appear after a while, but not the presets.aMUSEd wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 4:32 pmNot sure if it is a demo limitation (if it is it's a weird one) but it does work once rescanned - see belowRivanni wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 4:19 pmI did, but they are not recognized.faxinadu wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 4:05 pm Disregarding it "bothering" someone who seems to be anyways bothered, speaking of presets, there seems to be some confusion as to the locations. It looks like any pre Absynth 6 files on Mac (so .nabs) need to be placed in
/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Absynth 6/Sounds
in order to show in the browser, and not the usual ni user content absynth subfolder
Is this not working in the demo?
