Trolls and feeding them. I often wonder why people post in threads about things they don't use? I'm going to go find a Cubase thread and piss on it, because I've never owned it and I feel justified in my disdain for some narcissistic reason.

I owned and used Absynth up until a year or so ago. Finally got tired of NI's disdain for the customer. Still have an account with many licenses and libraries, but I've seen nothing from them to rebuild lost trust. Even if I thought better of this "upgrade", I would not be an early adopter. Let the masochists be the lab rats while I observe if there's anything ground breaking worth it.

Disregarding it "bothering" someone who seems to be anyways bothered, speaking of presets, there seems to be some confusion as to the locations. It looks like any pre Absynth 6 files on Mac (so .nabs) need to be placed in

/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Absynth 6/Sounds

in order to show in the browser, and not the usual ni user content absynth subfolder

I did, but they are not recognized.
Is this not working in the demo?

Not sure if it is a demo limitation (if it is it's a weird one) but it does work once rescanned - see below

The folders/banks appear after a while, but not the presets.

Should do - don't have the user toggle on

I'm wondering how to get the AI to sort additional banks though to get them into the explorer as at the moment it isn't working with them - I presume the training was done by NI as Absynth itself doesn't seem to have the AI built in?

This is something I was wondering about too. Was hoping the cloud thing was based on analysis of the sounds and so older user banks would work. Sound like no?

Though I'm not sure how useful these things are. I don't usually find the connected presets to be all that similar often times. Same for other products that do this, like XO.

My user presets are not displayed in Komplete Kontrol - when I select the 'User' icon, the list is blank. I can only see factory content. Can anyone confirm this?

Ah, that explains it. It turns out the presets are available in the standard list.

Did you own an older version of Absynth, or was the voucher used for the full version?

Only the upgrade (probably, that's how they've done it in the past), not the full license.

thx a lot i know I didnt want to give NI so fast my money but i just bought it, hopefully Brian gets his share and this will show that NI should spend more in bringing back old vsts back and care more for synths and stuff and not only sample packages and kontakt libraries. and dont kick Absynth 5! I got still too many projects with it and i dont trust backwards compatibility mostly until i tested it myself.

Komplete Kontrol are totally separate presets. When an instrument like Absynth is installed, it installs both the instruments presets, and the Komplete Kontrol presets for it.
User Absynth patches would need to be saved as Komplete Kontrol patches.

User Absynth patches would need to be saved as Komplete Kontrol patches.

- load absynth in mas/kk
- load the preset in absynth itself while its loaded in mas/kk
- save the preset as nks preset in mas/kk itself
- point mas/kk to the folder you saved to
- they will appear in the user tab

you have to do this one by one, but it will work

question, i had Absynth 5 in my Native Access and not it is replaced by Absynth 6, what the? how can i re-install Absynth 5 if needed?

EDIT, you need to click on SHOW LEGACY VERSIONS in native access to see it back, was shocked first.... phew!

But that's not the case with Massive X. I can save my preset directly in Massive X and it appears in Komplete Kontrol browser (the same applies to Reaktor-based synths). So I would expect the same for Absynth 6.

Also I don't think these are totally separate presets. When I do "Show in finder" on the factory preset in KK it points to: /Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Absynth 6/Sounds/Absynth 6/Instruments/
I think Absynth 6 reads from the same path but I can't verify this.

I did own Absynth before, so I used it on the update, which I wasn't expecting to work . but it did. Cost came down to £67
