Is it just me or do some preset auditions not match the preset?

I think the update is in the ballpark of what we´ve asked for online when we postulated that NI should team up again with Brain C and rework Absynth, when they said they´ll abandon Absynth.
I don´t think we expected more than what we´ve got now
Just, the price is for my feel to high.

I think it’s odd that when I click on the Buy/Upgrade link, it takes me to a page that says:
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about the $99 price, which is perfectly fair for this upgrade IMO, but I just think it’s odd that NI changes the name of the upgrade to “loyalty price” based on the number of products registered to my account when that has absolutely no bearing on my price. Again, not a complaint, just an observation. Weird. Maybe Fabfilter should explain to NI the difference between an upgrade and a loyalty price?
And my “Loyalty Price” is $99, which is, of course, the upgrade price that I expected to pay. I literally have over 100 NI items listed under My Products, including Komplete Ultimate 15, Maschine Plus, Maschine mk3, and over 4 dozen expansions, yet someone with only Absynth 2 in their account gets the same price (or $25 less by subscribing to the newsletter, which I’m already subscribed to).You qualify for a special loyalty price. This is your best price based on all products registered to your account.

Ugh, no. I love my Fabfilter, but their pricing system is brutal, they have a loyalty price but they never really go less than 25% off. Nothing ever goes lower than 50%, and they aren't cheap to begin with. Komplete on sale is 80-90% off individual pricing.cryophonik wrote: Wed Dec 10, 2025 2:08 am I think it’s odd that when I click on the Buy/Upgrade link, it takes me to a page that says:

NI is rigid, but as you're complaining about, you can skip a lot of versions and still get a decent price, and if you add that in to their like clockwork Summer of Sound Sale, or get an upgrade to Komplete in Fall, or wait until Winter to get Komplete upgrade for 50% off you get it super cheap. NI basically nail you for wanting upgrades early. Fabfilter give you a slight discount for owning a lot of their stuff, and rarely have sales.

Again, it’s not a complaint. It’s just weird. The $99 is simply an upgrade price and I’m fine with that, but it’s not a loyalty price based on the number of products I own. So, NI should just call it an upgrade price because that’s what it is and not open a window saying that I’m getting a loyalty price based on the number of products I own because that’s not what I’m getting. And, I’m not saying that NI should do it the way FabFilter does, but rather just pointing out that FabFilter does actually have loyalty pricing based on the number of products you own, so not everyone gets the same “upgrade price”.

Sure, the wording is silly, because like you point out it's an upgrade price. I'm just always shocked by any sort of complaining about NI's pricing, because it's been pretty consistent for decades now. Komplete and waiting until it's on a 50% off sale is always the cheapest way to get NI gear but you will be a full year behind. For the most part that's how I play it since if there are bugs they've had a year of updates to sort it out, but Absynth is special to me so I bit.cryophonik wrote: Wed Dec 10, 2025 2:27 amAgain, it’s not a complaint. I got the "loyalty price" message and it knocked off $9.cryophonik wrote: Wed Dec 10, 2025 2:27 amAgain, it’s not a complaint. It’s just weird. What an upgrade. The UI is easy to work with but I liked the old one. Felt like I was operating an alien spaceship and that feeling is beginning to disappear. The MPE & poly AT for me is another major improvement. Having added the Push 3 into the mix, I find myself reaching more for synths that can allow me to use its capabilities like slide, glide, pressure across multiple pads. Best expression assignment is Dawsome plugs like Novum. However this is the first im seeing expressive controls in a NI synth and hopefully others like Massive X add in.
Now because I like fast results and don’t have all day to sound design, the mutate feature is a godsend. I can take one of the good sounds one of them creative peeps built and rather than fiddling with controls to make it unique, hit mutate & redo a bunch of times until I get something close and then just fiddle with sergical precision.
What a synth. I’ve enjoyed its crazy sounds for almost 25 years and now look forward to what’s next with 6. Well done Brian Clevinger & Native Instruments!

Yeah they could have left a little of the Alien landscape element here and there, but it is easy to work with for sure.serge wrote: Wed Dec 10, 2025 2:48 amThe UI is easy to work with but I liked the old one. Felt like I was operating an alien spaceship and that feeling is beginning to disappear.

I feel the same way…it looks pretty generic now…but I enjoy the larger window for sure. MPE is what I’m excited about!

Against my better judgement........ and with confidence in NI's 15 day return policy, I bought the upgrade deal and I am trying this out as we speak. I am one of NI's biggest critics over the last few years, and this.... release was the biggest shock I could imagine, considering Brian C was involved.
Hearing some 'pops' in a couple presets in the absynth6 banks. Ive tried A6 standalone, in BWS 5, in BWS 6 beta 7, and cubase 15. Preset #2 makes pops. Preset #8 makes pops - no CPU or ASIO internal spikes. DSP processing looks stable and low (under 7% CPU usage), but pops still happen. Preset 8 is beautiful (additive piano) and I *really*, really want to play it right now, but I cant get rid of the pops. Audio interface settings have no effect. Nothing else in my entire studio does this.
Anyone else?

I am a bit surprised by how high the CPU use can be on some patches seeing as how most of Absynth is "old" tech. I don't recall Absynth being too much of a CPU hog but it has been quite some time since I've used it. Some patches easily go 20% of CPU or so and I'm on the M4 Pro chip.

OK, this is interesting.nusound mind wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 11:54 pm Yes. I experienced exactly this, however when i test it out in the cart I have a 50(cdn) $ discount for reasons unexplained. I have the '3 classics' or whatever it's called from Plugin Boutique, which if I recall included Abysynth, Massive and FM8 as a bundle.
How might one find out that they have an unexpected discount/coupon? Is it simply by putting a NI purchase in one's cart?
I know that I have a $25 coupon from a purchase (almost certainly will use on Absynth 6, if it will apply), but I only know from an email after the purchase. I don't see any indication of it in my account.
