I’m sure it will be great, like all his other projects.

If you're looking for a dusty Lo-fi sampler with multiple modes and sis uper easy to use then this is for you.
It can also used as a non dusty sampler but it really nails that kind of cassette sampler aesthetic.
Extremely well thought out, deceptively versatile and very instant in gratification.
This is ideal for firing in single or multiple samples and getting something playable very quickly.

Copy protection is just a keycode. I don't know if it phones home but I've never had an issue with it.Caine123 wrote: Thu Dec 11, 2025 11:12 am this makes me interested, any experiences how their support and C/P is? i never bought something from them.
Aqeel is very active in updating software. Everything I've used has been rock solid so never have had the need to contact support.

When I first downloaded I went into presets and there was a prompt in the preset window to download the factory presets.pekbro wrote: Thu Dec 11, 2025 3:24 pm Anybody figure out how to dl factory samples with the demo?
*Tho the demo has not got me overly excited about for this some reason, YMMV.
I think what it does exceedingly well is getting a single sample or a single layer of samples and making that into a playable instrument.
The three central controls are essentially there to achieve that. The first one effectively acts as a very extreme leveller. Say you have a plucked sample or a sample that has a decay envelope (piano, guitar) it tries to get the decay phase up to the same loudness. If you go beyond 50% it inverts so the beginning becomes quieter. This can result in bringing up noise but that's kind of the point.
The second control adds a kind of piano behaviour where lower notes are sustained longer and higher notes decay faster.
The third control and arguably the most interesting is that it uses the spectral profile of the base pitch of the sample and applies that to the pitched versions. This is very effective at countering the chipmunk effect of playing samples at higher pitches and the kind of sludginess you get from pitching samples down.
Then there's the smear control which is a reverb that is applied before the main ADSR so you get to kind of fill out the sound.
In combination the controls result in a more cohesive instrument.
Along with the various modes, the ripple effect, the multi sample playback modes (round robin, stack and scan), the filter with feedback and the modulation system I find there's a lot of breadth here to make some very playable instruments from very little. It does absolutely excel at making lo-fi sounds but you can do a lot with it outside of that.
I do think Aqeel's instruments can be a little opaque and it can be a while before they click. I didn't know what to make of Ridgewalk when I first got it but now I love it.

Ok thx, maybe the demo doesn’t get the preset pack or something. Clicking on the download button just opens a file dialog, no option to download.kraster wrote: Thu Dec 11, 2025 8:20 pmWhen I first downloaded I went into presets and there was a prompt in the preset window to download the factory presets.pekbro wrote: Thu Dec 11, 2025 3:24 pm Anybody figure out how to dl factory samples with the demo?

I was kinda hoping some curated content would help me see some more initial appeal.

That's odd. It should be there according to the manual:
"For desktop versions, Outgrowth can be used for a one-week free trial. All features will be available during this trial except for saving presets"
There's an option in the settings (top left) to view the factory files. See what happens when you click that.
One thing that caught me off guard is that the first few presets actually don't contain any sample content but if you scroll down you can find presets with the "Load with samples" option.

It can’t find any samples, no worries I’ll hit him up when I get home.kraster wrote: Thu Dec 11, 2025 10:39 pm That's odd. It should be there according to the manual:

Do you know if it has a ‘pick random sample from a user-defined pool’ feature, or any other randomizers similar to what Rando does?kraster wrote: Wed Dec 10, 2025 8:57 pm If you're looking for a dusty Lo-fi sampler with multiple modes and sis uper easy to use then this is for you.

The first several presets load parameters without loading samples. Keep scrolling in the browser until you find another button beside Load, Load with Samples. Try that. When you click on the button to download the samples the first time, it doesn't give you any feedback that it succeeded. Then if you click the first few presets, it will seem like it's broken. The once you have samples loaded, you can load any other preset without samples for different parameter sets. Hope that helps

Hey, Aqeel here - the file dialog is how you select where to download the samples to! Didn't want to assume where someone might want to put a fairly large download on their device.pekbro wrote: Thu Dec 11, 2025 10:31 pm Ok thx, maybe the demo doesn’t get the preset pack or something.
