I didn't have any violet synths. So, I ordered a "grape" RD-6 tonight. I've been told this color has been discontinued, and they're hard to find used. One popped up on Reverb tonight and I couldn't resist.

I got the violet TD-3 as a birthday gift a couple years ago. It’s my favorite color from their transparent releases.

I have the transparent blueberry TD-3 and it's pretty cool. I also have the black TD-3 MO, but I don't really like it because the grey text is very hard to see against the black case in my low-light studio. Next time I see a no-brainer deal on a different colored MO (esp. that yellow one!) I'm probably going to swap it out.

I pulled my toe back quickly before I fell into the deep. Remembered that I recently got a NDLR v1 to v2 upgrade kit and they recently updated the firmware, so I have to test that first.

I'm on a side-quest to collect at least one piece of gear in every color. Counting the grape RD-6 which is still in shipping, I have the following colors in the collection:

Black (x13)
Red (x3)
Orange
Yellow
Blue
Violet
White

Eventually, I'd like to add Green, Magenta, Cyan, Pink, Brown, Chrome, Silver, Copper, Gold, Woodgrain, and Clear.

do they taste of grape and lime? i know you've licked them.

Yeah, the black TD-3 MO looks terrific, but I'm sure it's awkward to use in a dim room. The yellow also looks great, and it won't have that problem.

That said, if I ever get a TD-3 MO, I think I'll get the silver version. I always thought the original Roland TB-303 looked rather bland. It's just too much sliver. The Behringer TD-3 MO in silver has enough black accents to break up all that silver, and I think it looks rather classy. It's one of the few silver synths I like the look of. And since I'm collecting synths in different colors, the TD-3 MO just might be my silver synth.

Since you have both a TD-3 and a TD-3 MO, would you say they're different enough to own both? Can the basic TD-3 do anything the MO version would struggle to replicate?

I don't have either of them here yet. The grape is on its way, but I haven't even ordered the lime yet.

Once I eventually have both of them, I'll give them a proper taste test — just for you!

SOMA laboratorys has a lovely mint green like on my Cosmos looper.
