Hi, I have a couple of questions for anyone with an Akai MPK Play Mk3 to confirm something about the batteries.

I know there is a switch on the back to switch between battery and USB power.

When connecting an older iPad 7th Gen I want to avoid any power draw from the iPad itself and just use the midi cable for controlling the iPad and therefore the internal batteries continue to power the unit. This should avoid the power warning an iPad gives when a controller requires too much power.

Does it work like this? Was not sure if the button on the back just changes power settings or whether I actually need to switch to the USB setting in order to work with IPads or computers. Hope this makes sense.

Also if you have any experience of connecting to a VST, can the 4 control knobs be banked to control 8 parameters.

Any help would be really appreciated before I buy one.
