This update contains a lot more than the Absynth update, and is free to owners of the previous version. Hell, NI took things from Absynth in this release.S4410 wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 9:27 ami agree, this is a minor update ,mostly for marketing reasons. Omnisphere 3, Zebra 3 and Absynth 6 were huge releases expected for years. I bet U-he also rushed to release the public beta before the new year because of the competition. Great times for synth lovers!concealed identity wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 6:36 am Yeah that's sort of what I was thinking when I said "maybe they just wanted something out by the end of the year to keep eyes on Pigments"- this year we've had Serum 2, Omisphere 3, Zebra 3, Absynth 6, Waveform, Kontrast, and I'm sure a bunch of others I'm forgetting. Maybe it's just a strategic update to stand out after a pretty busy 6 months of synth releases from competitors.

I updated to pigments 7, but have problems in ableton live 12.3.1(windows). When for example moving cutoff the mouse pointer is visible(flickering) and moving and the changes are audible stepped and not smooth.
In Bitwig and Reaper, the transition is smooth and no visible pointer when moving cutoff.
Anyone else with this issue?

But the audible stuff with Cutoff was there in 6 also. Don't know, when it appeared.SamDi wrote: Tue Dec 16, 2025 11:38 pm Is it only on my side, that changing cutoff on the play page is laggy?
Also I discovered, that changing cutoff via mouse on an init preset with sawtoth wave sounds strange. Like cutoff fade isn't smooth and linear, but interrupted with artefacts. Anyone the same problem?

No confusion here.Teksonik wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 2:25 pm ....Anyway you're confusing knob range with how that range is displayed....
I will say though that it would be much better if the numeric readout was always present.

Thanks, so they must have gotten rid of the old rainbow bar. Good, now I don't to swap it out after every update.Vortifex wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 2:36 pmThat's how it looks for me.Teksonik wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 2:34 pm It looks like they replaced the candy colored top bar from Pigments 6 which I had to edit and replace. Does the top bar look like this now for everyone or is Pigments still seeing the edited top bar from the previous install files here?

Nice update, but ill have to wait for a maintenance update since im getting memory leaks with this one in Logic. As soon as I open the plugin windows usage jumps to 3 or 4 gb per instance ( AU host). Ive reinstalled 6.0.4 and all is normal again.

Sort of how some synths let you dial in Age, the Sag would be the same thing. Maybe next developers will add a Wrinkles feature.Cuauhtli wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 2:56 pm Maybe in the next update the knobs will sag more as you increase the value to give more visual feedback.

You don't come with all these new features, interface and optimizations, just because you need to react and push "strategic update". You cannot come with new ideas, develop it, test and push it in such a short time as some form of "reaction" on what others released month or few months ago. It does not work like this...concealed identity wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 6:36 am Yeah that's sort of what I was thinking when I said "maybe they just wanted something out by the end of the year to keep eyes on Pigments"- this year we've had Serum 2, Omisphere 3, Zebra 3, Absynth 6, Waveform, Kontrast, and I'm sure a bunch of others I'm forgetting. That's interesting. After I upgraded yesterday I tried opening a very large project in Logic which pushes my machine near the limits and has a couple of instances of Pigments in, and it wouldn't load. I tried restarting the machine, loading an earlier version, nothing worked. I played around with Pigments 7 in a new project and didn't notice any issue.jkez wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 6:04 pm Nice update, but ill have to wait for a maintenance update since im getting memory leaks with this one in Logic. Eventually, for some reason that large project did load, and after resaving it it's since loaded just fine again, just as it used to. I have no idea what the issue was, but I did notice that during loading the progress report would hang on Buchla Easel (which I hadn't changed). I wondered if there was some sort of common Arturia file changed by Pigments that had created an error. Anyway, I appear to have no problems now.

Yes the same here. After i restart and reload the project it loads with normal ram usage. Strangechagzuki wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 8:19 pmThat's interesting. You're misunderstanding what I'm saying. My point was that the update they were working on likely got pushed out earlier than usual as a strategic move, since it came so quickly (less than a year since the previous version), and has fewer new features than their usual updates. Arturia has been releasing Pigments updates near-annually, so we know it's constantly under development.perox wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 7:11 pmYou don't come with all these new features, interface and optimizations, just because you need to react and push "strategic update". I noticed several people in this thread didn't like some of the knobs. (It seems some folks on KVR are particularly sensitive about their knobs... especially the Brits.)
As for me, I'll just paraphrase legendary news reporter, Kent Brockman:
"I, for one, welcome our new areola-knobbed overlords..."
Arturia have always had an artsy flair, and the new knobs are just an expression of their visual design creativity. It doesn't bother me one bit if they try a fresh design style. As musicians, we value our own musical creativity. I think we should allow Arturia some space to express their own visual creativity. I think the new knobs are just throwing some folks off, simply because they look different. I think they look perfectly fine and perfectly usable. Not every knob needs to look like a piece of fluted Bakelite or aluminum from the previous century. And this is coming from someone who has lived most of their life in the previous century! I may be getting old, but I'm not stuck in my ways.
Now, if you don't mind, please get off my lawn. I'm a busy man, and I have clouds I need to go yell at!

Love pigments7, the low cost of $0 sweetened the deal for me quite a bit, but those new macro knobs are crap. Less usable than rotary knobs or even sliders, and just a step down. I appreciate the new presets and new features, but I do of course see that this "major" release was fairly minor and designed to stimulate holiday sales.
If those presets would come down to reasonable, holiday sales level pricing I would buy a few, but right now they are the standard cost.
