The popular notion of "talent" is that ability is binary. There are chosen ones who, from the moment of conception, have innate ability to Do The Thing, and non-chosen ones who will never be able to acquire those skills through any amount of effort.
So, for example, there are those who literally already know how to walk and run by the time they escape the womb, and those who are doomed to spend their whole lives crawling. Therefore, as soon as you see babies crawling you can dismiss them with prejudice as being untalented in locomotion.
This is, of course, reductio ad absurdum. It should be obvious to literally anybody that this understanding of "talent" does not reflect reality in any useful way.
When searching for a more nuanced model, we should note that there is a phenomenon called "learning." It's what brains are for. Humans learn things; at least, those of us who possess brains.
Studies of childhood development have revealed that framing ability as innate is actively harmful to skill acquisition. When children accomplish something impressive, don't tell them they're geniuses; they don't know how to genius harder, and that's demoralizing. Instead, tell them they worked hard. They'll keep doing that. They need to keep doing that in order to keep accomplishing things, so it's a good habit to encourage no matter what.
I'm of the opinion that this also applies to adults. Go ahead and praise great musical achievements, but don't tell people their skill floors are also their skill ceilings. Like, come on.

I hate signatures too.

This. Kids who excel work harder around other kids who excel, because there's always someone who excels even more than them. This can be applied to music scenes, as well, and why "talent" will seem to pool up around specific geographic locations (Seattle, Bristol, Orange County, etc.).

Well, as we go along the music just keeps getting worse... The once great motown & black music retrograded into 'kill whitey' with over blown electronic beats & no actual singing just monotone mumbling...
This is by design, nobody is a success unless they are promoted & those making good music are never promoted... They wanna program you thru taylor swift or lady-boy gaga or tragic scott which are terrible musics however they all seem to have elaborate yet demonic concerts & this does not even cover the 'embeds' in the music...
This has been going on since the 60's where Phil Spector started having psychics concentrate on the recording head whilst recording... First testing by obtaining a phone # that had NEVER been issued before then having psychic imprint this on the recording by concentrating on the recording head, which worked! After the 45 was distributed they started getting massive calls on the number...
Today's programming is much more sophisticated... If you just 'listen' to modern music you will be programmed but if you listen whilst at same time knowing there's programming it will have no effect...
MTV was a form of this as visual programming is farther along... Why the hell does anybody need MTV? This is so anytime you hear the song you recall the video...

mass programming, demonic concerts, and psychic imprints...
This is either some serious talent for trolling, or one has to have a more serious approach to analyzing things like the impact of social media and streaming algorithms, cultural trends, financial interests, technological developments, etc. on what's popular on pop charts, but also with more developed subcultures, underground/experimental scene, and so on.
Otherwise, you inevitably start connecting the dots wrong and leaning towards conspiracy territory.

Well, I see you have never researched it... Attack the message not the messenger & how old are you anyway? You should also look up the definition of 'conspiracy' as nowadays what is NOT conspiracy?
No decades ago the keyboard virtuoso Jan Hammer stated in an interview that record 'corporates' will fight to the death against any form of soloing or improvisation, they want steady simple beats & 'repeating riffs' this is so that the programming can embed in the 'reptilian brain' or, anybody's brain stem... Soloing might cause higher brain function to occur which prevents programming to 'embed'...
Sure there are plenty of other social engineering projects this is why I hope somebody will blow up this planet as people get dumber by the day...

Or... maybe it's just business and by that time, when Hammer broke through into the mainstream as the Miami Vice composer, the mostly live-performed experiences of the '60s, which allowed for more experimentation and longer performances, became supplanted by '80s action flicks, commercials, shopping malls, coffee shop, etc. as the larger source of money for these industries. Consequently, those executives increasingly aimed to prioritize music with catchy riffs, choruses or hooks that instantly grab one's attention and cut through the noise - no one is focusing on a prolonged improv while shopping or driving through a noisy traffic jam.
In a general and simplified sense, this somewhat extended into the 21st century with social media domination. tracks that can be clipped for tik tok or youtube shorts will fare better and be prioritized by the industry. Also those trap tracks that you mentioned often have a steady beat and mood, functioning as background vibes because, unlike the '60s when people would listen to their records in their room or would attend the concert for an experience, today everyone has blutooth headphones and music accompanies everything, from offices to gyms and public transport - so these spotify playlists become mood soundtracks for various activities (in which people do not primarily focus on the music and therefore do not care for long virtuosic improvs).
This is not necessarily a good thing, of course, and just one aspect among many that influence what happens in the music industry, but it's a far cry from some area 51 bullshit about mass programming done by the hidden elite or whatever...

I have been playing bass and guitar for over 40 years...I exceeded "10,000 hours" many years ago. I come nowhere close to Jaco Pastorius, John Paul Jones, Andre Segovia, Les Paul, Chet Atkins, or Pat Methany. You may not call it talent, (genius perhaps) but it exists. Mozart was composing before he hit puberty and produced some of the world's greatest music before he was 30...hard work can bring success but some folks just have a natural affinity for their chosen discipline, call it what you want but Prince was Prince for a reason.
Now don't think you're the only one who harbours a self hate

Sheila E's sister told me he was scum of the earth. She legally couldn't give me details but I got major SA vibes from the conversation.
