How can i get a vocal effect similar to this James Blake song?

This James Blake track has this glitchy or granular effect on the vocals and i’ve always loved that.

Could anyone give me some tips on how to get closer to a similar sound for my vocals? I’d really appreciate it.

You never owned a compact disk player? If the disk was severely scratched, or the player got old and broken, it would sound like that.

And boy do I find it annoying and hard to listen to. Now I definitely feel like that 60 years old recording engineer ca 1965 telling the young guitarist:

turn down the gain, boy. I ain't recording a distorting guitar amp.

Sections repeated, simple like that. Too long for granular. Audio editor, cut & paste. There must be plugins doing that. Not my cup of tea though. Keyword: glitch?
