This James Blake track has this glitchy or granular effect on the vocals and i’ve always loved that.
Could anyone give me some tips on how to get closer to a similar sound for my vocals? I’d really appreciate it.
How can i get a vocal effect similar to this James Blake song?

You never owned a compact disk player? If the disk was severely scratched, or the player got old and broken, it would sound like that.enjoythesilence7 wrote: Wed Dec 17, 2025 11:23 pm This James Blake track has this glitchy or granular effect on the vocals and i’ve always loved that.

And boy do I find it annoying and hard to listen to. Now I definitely feel like that 60 years old recording engineer ca 1965 telling the young guitarist:
Sections repeated, simple like that. Too long for granular. Audio editor, cut & paste. There must be plugins doing that. Not my cup of tea though. Keyword: glitch?turn down the gain, boy. I ain't recording a distorting guitar amp.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
