Phonec 2 has been a daily driver, bread and butter synth for me for years now.
I've never owned Diva, but in my imagination Phonec is like its significantly weirder cousin - a characterful VA that excels at classic tones a la early Roland, Moog or Korg gear (via the excellent filters) but with some really amazing options under the hood, such as
1) the HFO for FM, AM, and filter FM
2) Logic Mix parameter between Osc 1 and 2 allowing for per voice distortion and audio rate interactions
3) extensive Melt feature which "melts the circuits" adding various drifting / detuning / malfunction artifacts
4) nice built in effects - chorus, echoshifrer, as well as per-voice filter saturation and drive
5) versatile sequencer that can move the filter and adjust glide
6) the Milk cascade filter is particularly amazing
The music I make is somewhere between IDM and electro industrial, and I love to make roaring FM electro basses, Kraftwerky keys, and big drifty gauzy pads with it. I think my most common use is for bass and plucks..

I know it's been a while since I've shared any progress regarding Phonec3. Over the past year, I've had to pause development a few times for personal reasons. I appreciate all the messages I've received from longtime users and the continued support. It really means a lot, and I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding. But now, I am very excited to announce that Phonec3 is finally nearing release and I am opening pre-orders to help with the final phase of development.
As many of you know, this plugin, as with all of my others, had to be completely rebuilt from the ground up in order to be compatible with the new Apple silicon chips. So keep in mind, this is a complete rebuild. You will recognize a lot of aspects from Phonec2 that I've carried over. And I've done my best to lay out the GUI in a familiar way while still incorporating several improvements and new features.
New oscillators, revamped filter section, lots more modulation options, an expanded on-board FX section, and many improvements and changes along the way. But the most notable feature that is completely different is the Sequencer. Like in Phonec2, I'm incorporating an Arp with Pitch/Mod sequencers, but this time, much more capable. One very exciting aspect here is the ability to lock the pitch sequencer to scale. Choose from Chromatic to Scaled mode and the pitch steps will just snap into harmony. This feature contributes significantly to Phonec's overall vibe!
And of course, Melt is still here and has been reworked and improved on.
But there is one feature that I think everyone would love to see, and that is the ability to import patches from Phonec2. I am once again working with Chris Kerry to incorporate this, as he has designed the preset system for all of my plugins. We are currently finalizing this feature and I'm very happy with the results. Some of the more difficult patches that I thought would not import well are actually matching up very close. So this is really good news!
MPE will not be available upon initial release, but will be implemented at a later time. The reason for this is because it will take more time and I want to get Phonec3 released as soon as possible. But yes, MPE will eventually be a returning feature.
