I only read the first sentence of yet another ping, and it was once more an unneccessary insult on top of a 1000 words lecture as follow-up with even more stabs below the belt. Stopped reading after the first paragraph, went straight to report, engine tells me "already reported".

Well, that's new. I appreciate everyone stepping in at this point.

PS: this was never about the Yamaha MONTAGE from my end of the dataline. Yet the text barrage was always pushed in that direction.

Personally, I see what Zenology Pro is to Roland Corp, HALion is to Yamaha. An all-in-one workstation beast, covering 30+ years of tech history. And even Zenology doesn't do 1:1 what their (Roland Corp's) old PCM based synths did.

(apologies in advance, as this comment will kick off another 2000 words of "correction" and insults while downplaying someone else's level of knowledge/experience)

If anyone else would still like to read some comments from me, maybe even on other synths, let me know. Else...

Enjoy making music, everyone. No matter what you use in the end. This is what's most important.

Zenology Pro is a expanded MV-1, MC-101 and 707 with Identical sounds onboard and it can also be expanded further with the Built in synth Models and SRX banks which makes it very close to a 1:1 Fantom 0 (Not the big one), or the Jupiter X since they all have the same 3000+ Presets.

The Bonus with Zen Pro is that you are not Polyphony or Track limited or face the limitations of not being able to have all the Synth models and SRX Banks onboard at the same time.

I was interested in the Jupiter X when it came out but Ended up Buying A Fully expanded Zenology Pro instead with the extra synth Models and SRX Banks.

I also have a MV-1 and a MC-101 and i can export my sounds from Zen Pro over to The MV-1 or the MC-101 when i make sounds in Zen Pro that i want to add to my HW.

Zenology Pro can also do the same and more than their Old PCM's Products could because it has the same PCM's and close to all the Presets from the past and some new ones (It is kind of a Old meets new thing).

...as I was saying.

The one thing that Zenology Pro has over HALion, is indeed the better hardware integration (ZEN Core). But else... a monster workstation, covering 35+ years of Roland Corp history. (with the baseline "Pro" version without any add-ons already).

We live in outstanding times.

It's just a shame that this thing is rarely on sale, and bound to the "Cloud Manager". IMHO and all that.

I agree.
Hate the cloud protection Scheme but love their products :)
Halion is also a great product and the same with Korg M1 and the Triton.

We do live in a Golden age where we can choose to use up physical space or get most of what we want In the Computer :tu:

Wish you great weekend :-D

I can't imagine the mindset that feels the need to waste the moderators time because someone dared to correct your repeated long winded posts full of inaccurate information

Simply mind blowing

My choice would be (I know it's a bit silly - but I am a sampler nerd after all) a Fairlight. If it could be done properly.

I have 2, Emax II and Roland S50

Roland Alpha Juno - fancy the second iteration, then TAL Software TAL-PHA (also has SYSEX import/export support, plus backwards compatibility)

Agree on this one, the VAST system had amazing capabilities that has stood the test of time.

Additionally, a plug-in version could unlock its potential with a programming GUI that the small LCD screen could only dream of.

I wish Roland would come out with a 1-1 'something' of their old hardware, but it's mostly just the samples from the older hardware, and even those don't sound the same. Like the hardware XV-5080 sounds different from the Roland Cloud version (78 types vs 90 as I recall?) and sounds different than the Integra 7 patches of those sounds which sound different than Zenology patches of those sounds. That's due to a mixture of 32khz and 44.1k sample rates between the samples in different units, each of these synths have their own effects algorithms that sound different from each other, the Integra 7 doesn't have a "Patch" mode, and was always stuck in "Performance" mode, so the individual MFX effects preset that was on the old JV/XV didn't even appear on the Integra 7 presets of the same name, and all the other little things like DAC quality, gain staging, and other differences between the engine. I'm more annoyed than pleased to be living in these times. I almost bought Zenology Pro when it was on sale for $99 a few months back, but it just sounds so flat and lifeless, I couldn't do it. If I want XV5080, I'll use the cloud version, which is pretty close, but I ended up doing the lifetime key for the 5080 because the Integra 7 that I have, the presets just don't sound the same. Some do, for the ones that the MFX effect didn't really have a strong signature sound for that preset, but others, it's a world of difference if it's not there.

And AWM2? I had a Yamaha W5 and still have a Yamaha TG500. Same synthesis type, one sounded like crap, the other one sounds worlds better (better programming and effects.) I almost completely overlooked the TG500 because it was AWM2, but gave it a chance. W5 sounded HORRIBLE. TG500 is still in my rack, the W5 is gone (although it has one of the best keybeds on the planet with the Yamaha FS keybed in it.)
