Yep, I dug around in some different IK folders to see if there is any config type of file, but didn’t see anything.Teksonik wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 2:13 pm Issues I have discovered in MODO Drum:
1. It does not publish the kit piece note names to the DAW so they show up in the piano roll. (kick, snare, etc)

Hi @Tocan, Dancetech did their own third party videos without our involvement so anything they are doing in those videos would need to be explained by them if you need further information. You may want to ask in the comments of the videos or hit them up directly. If you have specific MODO DRUM questions or have questions that cannot be answered by the MODO DRUM User Manual, our IK Support team are available via https://www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support/sw for software questions.

I looked around every place I could think of both inside the app and on the hard drive and found nothing. I didn't poke around the registry (Win 11) but I doubt there's anything in the Reg that will help.Examigan wrote: Sun Jun 15, 2025 11:29 pmYep, I dug around in some different IK folders to see if there is any config type of file, but didn’t see anything.Teksonik wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 2:13 pm Issues I have discovered in MODO Drum:

I think this is just another example of product placement over personal preference of the end user which I find odd since people complained for so long about not being able to hide the TRacks plugins they don't own (which can finally be accomplished in the latest version). So you'd think that they would have done the same thing for MODO Drums.
Oh well it is what it is I suppose. I'm more disappointed that MODO Drums doesn't publish its note names to the DAW. It makes programming drums much easier when you can see the drum names in the piano roll especially for drum plugins that might not follow the general MIDI spec (which I use all the time for consistency) or may have a lot of included kit pieces...

MODO DRUM uses General MIDI mainly and there is a section in the manual that elaborates about the deviation (a section on MIDI Mapping):
I can relay the request to send the information to the DAW, though.By default, MODO DRUM maps the keys from B0 to A2 following the General MIDI standard drum mapping.
The only slight exception is that Floor Tom 2 is mapped to both F1 and G1 because MODO DRUM only has 3
rack tom + 2 floor tom kits. This range corresponds to the left hand of MODO DRUM.

Yes I wasn't trying to infer that MODO Drums doesn't follow the GM spec I was just commenting on those that don't.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Mon Jun 16, 2025 4:22 pm MODO DRUM uses General MIDI mainly and there is a section in the manual that elaborates about the deviation (a section on MIDI Mapping):
Even those that most often do such as Battery 4 which can have 48 samples loaded at once can be confusing to keep track of what sound is under which lane in the piano roll since it doesn't publish its note names to the DAW either and the MIDI GM spec names can often not match the actual sound. The spec is perfect for keeping track of the basic sounds like Kick and Snare, etc but throw in an FX sound and there may not be a place for it in the GM spec naming convention.
To be fair a lot of drum plugins don't publish their note name. Oddly enough one of the least expensive drum plugins I own, Speedrum 2 does so I tend to use it the most.
Thanks, it can't hurt to ask.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Mon Jun 16, 2025 4:22 pm I can relay the request to send the information to the DAW, though.
One other advantage is that in DAWs like FL Studio and Waveform Pro (and perhaps others) the published drum names are also shown on the notes themselves so that helps keep things organized as well:

I just checked a few other drum plugins, and BFD3 shows that info in Cakewalk in the Piano Roll view, but just like Tek mentioned, Battery4 doesn't. Addictive Drums doesn't show info either.
It would be nice if they added that feature to MODO Drum. I'm guessing NI won't add it to B4 at this point.

IK are THE MASTERS of hit and run, Peter!Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 7:52 pm Not a hit and run, I was under the impression all upgrade concerns were fixed and if they were not those folks were in contact with IK Support. All should be fixed now, and if there are technical issues etc those would need to be handled by our team directly and I'm sure they will take care of anything that isn't covered in the FAQs that have been posted about MODO DRUM 1.5 (missing content, do you need to download from the Sounds tab, etc) too.
I am here in 2025 trying to figure out how to get MODO DRUM 1.5 to see its OWN content which it installed RIGHT inside its OWN folder. This is now 5 days of trying every suggestion on the internet.
This is on a CLEAN install of Windows 11 (or at least it WAS clean before the IK installer labyrinths).
And woah, even a blind man can see the many THOUSANDS of complaints from this IK SNAFU installer over the past FOUR years.
"Factory sound content pak file is missing, please reinstall MODO DRUM".
Sure does NOT seem like you fixed in 2022 anything on this installer, this one should have been cake to install!
100 other plugin companies' plugins on here, some with HUGE installs. Zero problems with those.
IT IS NOW 2025!! Can IK pull its head up out of the sand and fix product/installers it is still selling? You guys are legendary for cryptic, convoluted, and confusing error inducing installers!!!!!
IK tells you to use the "gear" symbol to set a path (FAQS), how tf are you able to do that, when the error locks up the program?? Also Peter mentioned the install paths for the program, paks, etc. I ran the install as stock; ALL files went to C\Program Files\IK Multimedia\MODO DRUM. Since the MODO DRUM program can NOT find its OWN paks (they are in there!!!!), one can easily conclude IT IS A crappy installer.
Can anybody outside of IK tell me the fastest/surest way to fix/cure this install?
Ain't nobody got the time to waste on being ghosted by "support", been there and done that. That is a purgatory. Besides, I ALREADY tried - filled out TWO requests in entirety, and they would not enter. NO acknowledgment of receipt, or case numbers given.
They need to be more open, USE their forum for question and answers to problems, not spank and threaten paying customers with issues, while redacting their posts.
Just because you AVOID acknowledging errors/bad installers/corrupt files/problems, doesn't mean that thousands will not notice them...
Love the plugins and VIs, HATE the installers and lack of support.

Not sure if it will help, but you could try to set the LibraryPath value through the Windows registry at:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IK Multimedia\MODODRUM
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IK Multimedia\MODODRUM

I appreciate that, and I may try that. It's easy enough to do.
Funny enough Reg Edit opened right up to that, I was looking in there the other day.
Currently showing "C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\MODO DRUM" as the stock installer's Library Path.
I had this issue way back on my Windows 10 install, but somehow got through it. It WAS an upgrade from MODO 1 to 1.5 though. This is a straight 1.5 install.

We have a FAQ about what to do if MODO Drum cannot find the content. There are multiple reasons this can happen, and they are covered here: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/index.php?id=1429

Hey bud, I already went through that. I installed it as a stock install.
It went directly to the c program\ etc that I stated above.
I didn't install any of the extra content whatsoever.
When you open the plugin, it goes right to the error message which blocks you from doing anything in the app. Period!
Your FAQ states that the common path is different than the one that the app actually goes to when installing, as a straight, non custom install!
Now what?

Peter, is there ever going to be an update that fixes the unflushed buffer in the Jazzy kit toms?
After playing and sitting idle, one of the Jazzy kit toms will send out intermittent pings that sound sort of like a sonar.

Ok. So I figured out that UNLIKE Toontrack's SD3 & EZ Drummer, MODO DRUM does NOT seem to allow you to do all your content and drive/folder setup in the STANDALONE.
I opened Reaper, and in there, MODO DRUM would actually open up, knew where the stock initial content was (!!!!!), AND allowed for me to move the add on drum sets content - to another drive. I did NOT install those, until I had the stock drum sets that came in MODO DRUM install working.
Also, I had to keep the stock PAK files IN the "C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\MODO DRUM" folder. I had tried to put them in with the others on my D drive, but it made MODO DRUM not open - inside the DAW or out.
After opening the plugin in Reaper, it all of a sudden worked in the standalone.
Why is this ^ not part of installation instructions and error resolution IK Multimedia?? Why doesn't the standalone work right from the start after install?!
If I have a VI plugin with a standalone version I ALWAYS do content setup/check it out/MIDI assignment/folder management from there if I can. It's much easier than dealing with the DAW at the same time.

Did IK Multimedia ever manage to fix the MODO DRUM Preset Manager issue, where the Previous and Next preset buttons, didn't work properly?
The selected preset would instead always go back to the first default preset in the list. I think that issue may have been outstanding for over 4 years if it hasn't been resolved yet.
It still happens for me in v1.5.0 - Win 11, VST3
