One Synth Challenge #202: Oxid by Full Bucket Music (TobiasMiller wins!)

@aarongrooves the behavior I see, when editing a preset in Oxid is that any changes are made directly to the preset for the current instance, if I select a different preset and re-select the edited preset, I get the edits rather than the original preset. If I open a new instance, I get a fresh preset bank and the preset is the original, unedited one. IIRC this is pretty common Full Bucket behavior. I don't know if it's right or wrong, but the only way to reset is to add a new instance of the plugin. You aren't seeing behavior that all instances of the plugin have the edited preset, are you? I tried every permutation I could think of with CLAP and couldn't get anything beyond the current instance updating its preset directly.

Yep, that's exactly the case! Only the particular instance of Oxid is automatically updated. New instances always get a fresh batch of presets with no edits.z.prime wrote: Thu Dec 25, 2025 7:13 pm @aarongrooves the behavior I see, when editing a preset in Oxid is that any changes are made directly to the preset for the current instance, if I select a different preset and re-select the edited preset, I get the edits rather than the original preset. Okay, knowing that this is expected behavior for other full bucket synths makes me feel much better. And I've come up with a few workarounds, like duplicating the instance or the track when I have something I like, before tweaking further.
Thanks so much!!

Welcome & congrats on your first entry! I'm pretty new here too (first entry 2 months ago). Amazing community! Super knowledgeable (sometimes intimidatingly so), but also incredibly kind and helpful. There's a strong sense of everyone wanting to help everyone level up, and the passion for sound design is very motivating.Nd6829 wrote: Thu Dec 25, 2025 1:25 pm +++++SUBMISSION+++++

Hello! I only learned about OSC this month. Everyone is incredibly creative !
I love making music. I enjoy listening to various people's creative works and learning more.
My work might not be very easy on your ears (it’s not even a good piece to me), but I look forward to being part of this community !!
I’m going to learn a lot from all of you.
Oh, that's right ! Happy holidays, everyone !!
P.S. Since I don't have much money, I only use free plugins, but I would appreciate any advice on your mixing techniques, how you measure DR (Dynamic Range), and so on.
Also, I’d like to enter various free competitions to grow—which ones do you usually participate in? Sorry for all the questions !
Title : Nd-Oxid Orchestra
DAW : GarageBand
Effects : Built-in Automation by GarageBand
Instruments : Oxid by Full Bucket Music only
Full Bucket Oxid : 22 instances
DR : Loudness Penalty says it’s dynamic with +1.5 dB on Apple Music
Thank you !
Thanks also for the questions you asked. Mastering is something I've never gotten much into aside from placing a limiter on my final mix. I'm taking notes!
Btw, the discord is very active. If you haven't already, that's a great place to peruse! Just watch your step...rabbit holes abound lol

My entry this month. I did not attempt to create percussion or make this antique synth sound modern. My goal was to try to use the synth to its strengths, go out on a limb or two for a minute for fun, but in general stick with the spirit of the original hardware. Enjoy. https://soundcloud.com/ontrackp/ontrack ... fication_2
46 instances of Oxid in Logic Pro X. Logic compressors, vintage eq's, reverb, limiter, Nova Free, and of course, SPAN.

This is my submission for the month. The synth has some quirks and bugs, and it wasn't very inspiring overall, so I produced the track rather hastily just to have something to submit.
Produced in Cakewalk. 13 instances of Oxid. epicCLOUDS, kHs Delay, LFX-1310, OTT, W1 Limiter as the external FX.

Hey everyone,
Here’s my entry. I don’t post here very often, but I had a lot of fun working with Oxid. The presets were really inspiring, and I ended up sticking pretty close to them.
And really enjoying listening through the entries
DAW: Bitwig Studio 5
Synth: Oxid x19
Effects used: Dynamics (x3) - Blur - Delay+ (x3) - Reverb - Compressor+ - Distortion (only on bass) - Limiter (x2)

Hello friends,
After a long pause, I had been working on something for about two months, but without a hard ETA, it was impossible to finish. You know how that is. The Oxid kickstarted me to start over with something new and - importantly - to finish it.
The Oxid was very tempting because it aligns well with my Jarre-inspired musical preferences. The original presets are beautiful, although it’s quite challenging to push them further and achieve something truly distinctive. Even so, I’ve heard some seemingly impossible sounds in your productions. I even read about tracks using around 60 hi-hat layers—crazy stuff.
As for my tune… guess what—it follows an old-school JMR-style (as far as such comparisons make sense), in a 3/4 time signature (if I'm not mistaken). I ended up with almost six minutes of music, with the longer intro alone taking a portion of it.
Initially, I planned to create something simple due to the limitations of Oxid. But as I started building blocks and experimenting with sounds, things evolved. I managed to get some results from an unexpected palette, and I hope you’ll appreciate them.
While the song structure is generally complete, it may receive some polishing changes before the deadline.

Yes, that's how it works with most of my plugins (a memento of the good old VST2 days). Thanks to zprime for pointing this out!aarongrooves wrote: Thu Dec 25, 2025 10:47 pm Okay, knowing that this is expected behavior for other full bucket synths makes me feel much better.
Some of my babies have the opportunity to restore the original factory sounds using the Menu, but not Oxid, sorry.
Cheers, Björn

Hi there, I think you will have to remove the pitch shifters as this is one of the class of FX not allowed in OSC. Others may correct me if I am wrong ... if right, you do have a little time to replace them ...maxym.srpl wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 11:00 pmCode: Select all
